Nothing beats a classic. I saw a Kermit list and sell for $17k (here), so anything is possible. Three bezel (B/P/C) and bracelet options (O/J/S) give you the ultimate watch. Today’s unveiling has put a jubilee on my wish list.

I think they will level out then continue to climb at a small rate. A five year waiting listing for the new one will keep driving people to the old. The 16710 has the luxury of three bezel the users can change themselves along with bracelet options. Now if Rolex comes out with an oyster option as well, this may change things. A lot of people don't like jubilees and this will keep the 16710 relevant.

Where did older Daytona prices go when the 116500 came out?

Agree. And the only way it would impact value of vintage pepsi models is if the AD's were all well stocked with new SS pepsi and no multi-year wait lists. And what are the odds of that happening? Zero!!!

Some people who previously wanted a Pepsi dial and also like Jubilee will now set their sights on the updated modern version.

I would argue the current prices mirror equity markets almost perfectly (i.e. look at the price of a 5 digit Pepsi 2 years ago). Further, I believe there is no real "shortage" at all (at least in the US, can't speak for Europe) and such notion has mostly been manufactured/blown out of proportion on this forum and others like it. There is not a structural problem in my opinion, what we are experiencing now is probably the greatest watch price bubble of all time.

At least for me if I want the Pepsi I will go for the new one and I think a lot of consumers share the same idea. Right now price of the old ss pepsi already rise to the same or much more than the new retail price. The new one will be hard to get at the beginning but I assume it go through the similar way as the BLNR, not prohibitive difficult to get in the future at MSRP. Hard to imagine the old pepsi price can sustain

Tricky one, could go either way. The fact that the new one is jubliee-only may help to keep the 5-digit models valuable. But just having a new Pepsi with new movement and ceramic bezel makes it a big improvement. For me I'd take the new one every day of the week, but others prefer the classics. We shall see.

This comment made me giggle just a bit (re: bubble) because it made me think of the Tulip fiasco that occurred in the 17th century. On a side note, there was a great film (Tulip Fever) released last year covering the madness, highly recommend. Okay, now back to Rolex watches. Apologies for the digression.

I predict just this.
The 16710's still have the older style chamfered bevels, aluminium insert, holes on the lugs (except for the last years), much better fit and proportions IMO.

Unless Rolex swamp the market with BLROs then like the D500 this will have the effect of drawing more hyped up buyers to the well, so price pressure will probably be upwards.

I bought a $10k five digit pepsi and it is such a beautiful little watch. In fact I love it so much it lives in the safe. The new one is blocky and ugly, and that jubilee band is disgusting. No thank you :)

I wouldn't sell my 16710 for $15k.

Prices will continue to go up. They are not building anymore 4 or 5 digit GMT's. The new SS BLRO will be hard to get and some consumers will want one and go with a vintage model instead of waiting. Demand for the "Pepsi" will be crazy.

Agree, colors are not just right, same as the WG version. 5 digits all the way .
