There's a 126710BLNR and BLRO.

OP you really need to try on the new one and then make the decision. I personally wouldn't swap them, but you might prefer some of the changes, or it might make you realize how much you like the 5 digit.

The 126710BLNR didn’t exist when I posted that comment

I would not trade the 16710. It's 6 watches in one. It's the most versatile Rolex ever and they will never allow that to happen again!.

It's also the only "coke model" unless a ceramic one is planned down the road.

Ceramics in the new GMTs are a great deal. However, the climate of 16710 is unique. Here old friend Pepsi and my newer Batman. If I had to choose one, it would definitely be 16710. It's easier to get a new reference than an older model in perfect condition with a set of documents. And in the comfort of wearing 16710 beats new GMT models for the head.

Never. 5-digits forever (and I own both a 5 and 6-digit).

You resurrected an almost two year old thread, but the nature of threads in TRF is that people just read the first post and answer it, and don't read through the whole thread to see your question to answer.

I once made a recommendation to the moderators and admins, to change the setup so the background color of posts (say older than 6 months) becomes different (like a light beige for example) to give a hint to people that it was a resurrected thread. But just like my wife, no one listened to me.

That’s funny, Faz. Mine does not listen either. But you better believe I listen to her, after 20 years of marriage.

Nope .. The 16710 is basically six watches in one if you consider bracelet changes. So nice

And yes for the one's that really look close I did mod the bracelet with a glidelock

Ha!

Per your question — the 16710 is an awesome ~$5-6K watch. The 126710 is an awesome modern watch. I had a 16710 for 15 years, but traded mine for a 126710blro and am very happy with the modern upgrade.

Keep the 5 digit, save for the 6 digit.

i actually did the opposite. sold my 116710s for 16710s.

as a watch, i think the overall tech in 6-digit GMTs blow away the 16710.
however, i think there are some aspects of 6-digit GMTs that are terrible when compared to the 16710.

1) i like more than 24 bezel clicks.
2) i don't like the huge case lugs.
3) i like the ability to easily swap bezel inserts.
4) why be forced to wear the comfortable yet "bling bling" jubilee bracelet w/ 126710s
5) i think the aluminum inserts produce rich / deep colors that isn't possible in a ceramic insert yet.
