Congrats again! It is a beautiful, timeless piece. Enjoy in great health!

[Looking forward to a review, when you have time (like your earlier one) :-)]

I think I can do a better review this time. I was really green then.

I was always a fan of the explorer line. Wanted matte dial and fully luminous hands and markers like the famous 1016 and its predecessors, and in a 39mm case. So, for me, it was perfect!!

do you get -2/+2 sec/day? I don't, I am at about +4 sec/day

I haven't checked recently. When I bought it was roughly +0.5 sec per day or so. RSC should be able to fix it very easily. You can send it to RSC via your AD,

This one always seems to be in stock, though I wonder if I should keep by Tudor Ranger if I purchase the Explorer

Personally, I had no issue with the short hands on the MKI. They were not much shorter at a couple mm than the new ones so that would just be splitting hairs for me.
they bothered me too, too much bling!

If you didn't bond with the 214270 you had before, then I think there is a pretty good chance the same thing could happen again (even with the new dial & hands).

Do some deep reflecting on why that watch didn't please you (some wine or whiskey may be required). In my case, I realized I was looking for a Rolex with a bit more "oomph" than the 214270 offered, and the 114060 was just the ticket.
I think I needed a little less, and the MK2 seems to do it for me...

I thought of trading mine in for the current version when the new one came out because of the short hands but I like the WG numerals so I’m keeping mine & when I send it in for a service I’ll see if they will put the new hands on for me.

you have a lovely watch. It may have just taken me a lil time to appreciate it. I heard that, about Rolex replacing hands, etc, dial on it... is that indeed true? If a buyer wasn't happy, would Rolex change it to the new one, gratis? Moot point for me, MKI is long gone, only lost $1500 ouch, oh well... and I was glad it wasn't worse!

What really pleases me most about the 214270 is the size, dimension and weight... and of course the Rolex excellence and "pedigree" lol it really hits the sweet spot for me. Also its quiet confidence... its subtle plainness. It doesn't need a lot of color or flash, it is just very well done...

Congrats on the Explorer bud!

I just picked one up as well after debating about it between a SubC no date for my daily. Love the size, dimension, and weight. It’s simplistic yet elegant. It’s a Rolex yet doesn’t need to scream Rolex to everyone.

I do agree with many, the polished bezel is nice but if it was the brushed finish bezel that would be amazing.

All SS sport watches is hot locally (besides the Air King), but can be had between a 2-4 week wait. Worth every penny. The Canadian MSRP helps too $7500 CAD ($5950 USD) vs $6550 USD :D

you too! when I got mine I saw a new sub, the gold 2 tone and w the new bezel- is it ceramic- I hate to say it and don't want to offend anyone, but it was not to my liking. I want a DJ too, but they look so shiny and way too much bling... I like this MKII alot and dig that one little touch of polish on the bezel... it is little enough... "simple yet elegant", your wording is right!
