This is as small as I could make it look perspective wise

It wears somewhere in between those two perspectives.
I dig it

I too have 7 3/4” wrists, and my absolute minimum size is 40mm. Even then it has to wear true to size or larger. My 16710 BLRO works but only because of Rolex’s blending of watch and bracelet. My other watch is a 44.25mm Speedmaster co-axial.

This is how my datejust 41 fits on me. I tried on my friends 36 and I really don’t understand how a person with my size wrist would wear it. But that’s for a different day.

This is my 41mm my friends 36 and my wife’s 31mm. With every watch supposed to be 5mm bigger I clearly see it with the 31 and 36. But the 36 and 41 seem much closer in size.

i don't get this at all. You try it on at the AD and you like how it looks. Who cares what the size is or isnt. Many watches wear differently with the same stated case size. A 41mm RO wears different than a DJ41 or a 40mm Patek wears different than a 40mm Rolex

Try a watch, see how it looks... buy or not. Simple. The odd part is that you bought it even though it was too small. Case size is only one of many factors that determines how big or small a watch wears... case shape, thickness, bracelet integration, dial color, bezel, etc are just as big a factor.

I think people in general are too fixated on the measurement of the diameter.

I bought it because I liked it. But just wish it was the correct size because as you can see from the picture it does seem a little small imo. But it checked off many other boxes so I went for it. My post says does anyone else wish it was a true 41 other then me? Everyone is entitled to their opinions. This is the closest watch to perfect for me until I can get my hands on the steel skydweller. But the jubilee band for me would be hard to give up. So as I do like the watch a lot I just wish it was a 41mm as the name states. I know all 41mm look different Because of case sizing and other factors you mentioned. But to me it’s silly to state a watch is a 41mm and sell it as that but it’s a 39.5.

DJ39.58 is ... extremely close to Perfection. More than any other watch I've owned (including PM rolex).

it depends on how you measure too. Include the crown or not for example. Some watches include this and some don't. Patek 5164 is 40.8mm from 10 to 4 across the dial and does not include the pushers on the left side of the case or the crown which adds quite a bit of size to the appearance and the measurement would be larger if you took it from 3 o'clock to 9 across the case. It still wears smaller than a DJ41. how you measure the size is subjective too.

+1, perhaps the Datejust II is a better choice for you?

Jubilee band is a must. Might get the skydweller if I get the call but the jubilee band would be hard to give up.

Size is a weird thing. Sometimes it just doesn’t see right. Mayne try a DJii. It feels a lot bigger to me than the DJ41

I tend to agree.

OP, if they did away with the size measurement in the name of the reference marketing all together, would you still buy it?

This was my whole point. Doesn’t this watch seem a little small? It’s the date just 41. I know I can get away with the look because people on the forum with my size wrist or slightly smaller wear a dj36 everyday. I thought this watch size would be my minimum size but a true 41 would be my sweetspot and for me personally make it perfect.

I still would have bought it as its the largest watch Rolex makes in the jubilee band.

I’m sorry but IMO Rolex screwed up on the Datejust. It is way too big for a classy dress watch which what I believe it was originally supposed to be. Had the new design been 39mm It would have been perfect but again it’s just my opinion.

Nope I'm the opposite, still feel it wears a little to large with the fluted bezel. But its all about personal preference.

Producing a 39.5mm watch and name it "Datejust 41" is unacceptable for me. For luxury goods you either manufacture it according to the spec or name / specify it correctly...
