I thought about that option as well, but wish I had the wrist for it! At 6.75" 40mm is the max size I feel comfortable wearing. Maybe Basel 2019 or 2020 will bring in a Red 116610LN? I can only hope :)

Yes! But it was a white one. Tried it on and liked the look and feel. For me the red gives it that something extra beyond what the white one has.

Pull yourself together, blow away the misty haze, and switch your brain back into gear. Forget the awful red thing.

First, I think you have 2 beautiful watches, I would definitely keep them. I have many watches, and if I had to sell everything, the gmt 2 is the one I would keep. I also would not buy a watch that is pitted. First is devalue the piece, and frankly I am surprise they classify the case as “ excellent “?... second it will compromise the waterproofing of this watch a great deal. What not put some money aside for a while and find a better “red” as well as keeping your gmt’s.

I used to have 16710 twins but both on Oyster. Decided I didn’t need both and sold the Coke to free up some cash...fast forward 12 months and I decided the Pepsi was way two lonely so I now have twins again. I know I could have just purchased a Coke bezel insert but it’s not the same. For all the reason already stated my recommendation is to keep both, which I think you’re doing anyway.

What’s that old saying...”you never actually own a Rolex 16710 you merely look after it for the next generation”

Not only that, each son will have a different version of the same watch. Something to remember their old man by.

Thank you for your thoughtful suggestions. My boys prefer their Fitbit Charges at the moment (I’m failing as their father - lol), but I still have plenty of time to teach them what is right and true.

Yes, I noticed the chipping but thought it wouldn’t affect its water resistance. From your comments it appears that it does. Not sure why you’d sell a legendary dive watch that you could not take into water?

Could you afford a more recent SS sub, maybe partially funding it with the Omega? A red line and some yellow patina costing you some 10K $ is not a great deal, I believe.

I’d trade the coke for a 1680 or 5513.

Thus have a gmt and sub. 2>1

Keep the twins! You love those watches and would regret selling them.

Maybe sell the moonwatch plus cash and get a 16610LV.
The 16600 is also one helluva piece. It's a win win IMO. Vintage are like landmines, you really have to know your stuff.

Great advice, but problem is that if I got the 1680, I’d always wish it had the red dial, and it would remind me of what could have been. Even tho they are beautiful in their own right. I’d rather hang on to the twins and truly enjoy both.

The 16610LV are beautiful, especially in photos, but the green doesn’t do it for me on the wrist. The same LN may work and I’ll be exploring that over the next year. The SD is another good option and I’ll look into that at the same time. Appreciate the recommendations.

My twins say hi :) Don’t let either go and possibly consider a 5 digit 11610/14060 for your submariner fix?

Forget the 1680 man you got a great set there. If you did get it you'd have to worry about water and damaging it further it's a 40+ year old watch. Enjoy what you have!

Beautiful trio you have there Roy. Congrats! Yes, the 5-digit sub will fit in well with my Twins, like yours does. Thanks for sharing your pic.

Good call keeping the GMT's. I know people fawn over the Pepsi but I think the Coke is awesome. I have a customer who wears a coke on jubilee like you have and I love seeing it.

Don’t let go of both. I get selling one and In fact I’d absolutely sell one to help fund the sub.
