How are you liking the SD43? I have a 7.5 inch wrist and I think it fits much better than my BLNR...

I love my SD43. I wish it were a bit thinner though. Got back home today where my VC chrono has been waiting for me. It’s 42.5mm but thinner and the comfort level difference is notable...

I truly truly hate this. It all feels very stand-offish. The extra security, the attitude in the shop, the unresponsiveness or lack of openness.

They create such a huge and unnecessary distance which makes you feel uncomfortable. I can't be the only one who feels this way.

I found it rather off putting. First, you have to ring the bell and wait for the outer door to audibly click to open it. Then walk through. Then that door has to completely close and you are then rung through again.

Then the first person you encounter is the security guard. I’m 6’7”. In at least one instance the guard was notably larger than I am - which is fine, but the whole thing was slightly annoying. I grew up poor and for a long time I was uncomfortable walking into nice stores. On some level, it reminded me of that feeling - like I didn’t belong.

Then you have the issue of the reps in the Netherlands. At least at the places I visited.

Its hard to take your eyes off the Daytona, just love it. I visited two ADs in Central London and was told by both 6-7 years for the Daytona and I couldn't put my name on the list at one place, the other took my name for what its worth. I'm thrilled for the OP, since he got his Daytona early on his trip the pressure was off.

Congratulations on your white DaytonaC aquisition at the Thai airport. You certainly hit the jackpot of hard of find models. Thanks for sharing your AD experiences, very interesting! Wear your new DaytonaC in good health. Cheers!

I will be in Hong Kong and Japan in August.
I hope I'll get lucky with a white Daytona C as well.

Will be searching their airports ADs for sure.

This is kind of expected with ADs having limited inventory and any allocation is likely to be given first to existing regular customers instead of walk-in.

Just to share my experience, few weeks ago I was in my Singapore AD to pick up my SS GMT. I was there for about 30 to 40mins and I observed no fewer than 5 walk-in customers asking for various popular SS Rolex sports model. They are all being turned away citing no stock or quoting very long wait time. Including two of them that offer to buy on the spot at msrp.

Really not an ideal situation at the moment for those buying their first Rolex esp if you want a popular model. But this is what things are now unfortunately.

p/s : Congrats on the C Daytona. great find. I guess persistence pay off

Congrats on the white Daytona!
A few years back I stopped by the Doha airport and they had 3 (!!!) Daytonas on display. Two black and one white. They said they had another one in the safe. This was around 2014, before the new Ceramic Daytonas were announced.

I think after "A few notes from visits to 15 ADs in 4 countries" that quest you earned the Daytona!
Sounds exhausting!

Tough to make generalities about ADs in different countries, unless you went with locals to the foreign ADs and you announced to U.S. ADs that you were from out of town and they would never see you again.

As a foreign tourist who clearly was just passing through, and for whom they obviously had nothing to sell you, I'm not sure what one should realistically expect.

Anyway, huge congrats on the new Daytona! Beauty!

Which do you prefer, VC Chrono or Daytona 500C?
