I got my BLNR at MSRP from an AD. It's literally the only piece in my collection I bought from an AD. Would not flip it for a profit. It's a great watch and has a special place in the collection.

Some older Speedys are manual, but I think all modern Omegas are automatic.

Anyway, it is a Seamaster, 212.30.41.20.01.003.

Last year I took advantage (I thought) of the high values of the BLNR and sold mine for a nice price. Then, somewhat discouraged at the ridiculous prices of all things Rolex, I bought an Omega. A fine watch, 25% of the cost, and it tells time just like a Rolex.

Then last weekend the Omega ran down and stopped. No reason, and it started right back up when I wound it, but I thought it odd and figured that I may have to send it in for service. I wear it daily including at the gym, so even though I'm at a desk all day, you'd think the gym activity would keep it going.

So I started thinking about what I would do when it was off for service. Nothing came to mind, as I certainly can't buy another BLNR or any sports model for that matter: prices are still high. I mean, nice used ones are selling (or asking prices) near MSRP for goodness sakes! BNIB are selling (asking) at over MSRP. I won't do that.

Yesterday my AD called me. "Still interested in a BLNR?" he asks. "I just got one."

"Nah", I said, thinking, prices are through the roof, no thanks.

Then I thought about it. MSRP is still $8950. So I called him back and said, "um, yeah, I'll take it."

And so I did.

Sure, I could flip it and make money, but no, I think I'll keep this one.
My Omega recently stopping also. Which Omega do you have?

I tried to come up with a watch I would sell my blnr for and really had a hard time. A white Daytona is really the only other watch I would give up the blnr for but no ad will give a small fish like me one for retail so I couldn’t come up with anything else around that price range. It’s really my favorite SS Rolex at the moment. Welcome back.

For anyone who was wondering about the Omega: After I got the GMT, I put the Omega in the little Rolex coffin and it ran well past 36 hours (I don't actually know when it stopped, forgot to look) so I think any concerns about it self-winding are gone. It must just have been "one of those things."

I did wear the Omega again Sunday night to avoid questions from the FIL about the new Rolex.

I sold my BLNR. Got an AP RO Jumbo and PP 5712 so couldn’t justify keeping BLNR.

Sure enough was on holiday a few weeks ago and completely missed the rock solid, cool, rough rugged Rolex.

Got back home and repurchased a BLNR. Now keeping it.

I totally did the same thing as you. Bought it, loved it, sold it, regretted it, considered second hand, found at an AD and bought it. This one isn’t going anywhere.

Congrats and welcome back to the BLNR club. I just recently got one and can't seem to get it off my wrist. Here's mine saying hello!
