Have been contemplating what to hunt down next. These jaw dropping beauties just made up my mind. Great thread! So just be clear Fuschia inserts should not be on a gilt version?

I concur - later 1960s on the Mark I white-lettered dials. I've purchased a few GMTs with fuchsia inserts the past thirty years, many of them still completely original, and I have yet to find an original gilt GMT with the fuchsia insert.

Thanks Springer. Think I’m going hunting for Gilt dial since I really love the look of gilt and source a nice Fuchsia insert to have best of both worlds. Keeping original insert to keep it genuine of course. Those Fuchsia inserts are amazing and on a Gilt dial would be killer.

Hi all - my first post here so thanks for having me. I'm currently on the hunt for a nice Fuchsia and I've come across a few options. Just curious which option would be more desirable: Mint insert with strong fuchsia color and a blue that has faded to light gray, or a deep blue / fuchsia combo that has a bit of chipping along the edges...? Also - is it possible to find a fuchsia insert on a MK 1 from 1972, or were they only found on 68/69 models...? Thanks. :)

I would keep looking unless you really like the grey on the more faded one. Those chips on the other will get worse over time... Also, don't ask us which is more desirable, its your watch! |

OK thank you! I prefer the colors of the first insert, but agree that the chipping is problematic. I will keep looking. :)

It appears to be sand blasted for an artificial aged look.
