Bought it from Hourglass. I live in Brisbane, but there was no stock anywhere for what i wanted. Ended up calling Hourglass in Sydney who had stock. They ended up shipping the watch up to the Brisbane store after i paid a deposit.

Coming from a Speedy, i liked to switch between the bracelet and leather straps.

Although i really love the jubilee bracelet, i wouldn't mind having the option to put the datejust on a leather strap sometime.

Upon searching the forums, my understanding is that with the 6 digit datejusts are difficult in terms of adding a leather strap. Apparently the gap between the spring bar and case is so small that a vast majority of straps will get ruined/scratched if put on the 116234.

Is anyone able to confirm this? I've seen a few threads in regards to it. Ive seen some threads about people buying end links? some are filing down the case to make it more smooth... and others have tried curved spring bars.

Would be nice to have solid information before i invest in some spring bar tweezers and some new 20mm straps.

Thanks guys.

Same situation as you with same watch (black 116234 as a first Rolex) and elected to file down the case to accommodate a strap. Was extremely nerve racking and went very slowly, and ended up being a success. I cannot tell with the naked eye any difference to my case after having been filed down. Even with skinny spring bars and a very thin leather strap, I was finding that the default case was cutting into the strap (expensive alligator strap). Thought about curved spring bars, but felt nervous strapping on a new Rolex on curved spring bars, so ended up filing. Success story here.

I don't think i have the nerves to file down the case. Did you have to take much off? Or was it purely just to smooth down the edge.

I'm kind of scared about curved spring bars too, no idea how "unstable" they might be.

Do you have any pictures of your DJ on a strap? Would love to see how yours turned out.

The alternative i was thinking was maybe getting a suede/nubuck strap, which wouldn't really scratch easily.

I'm not really fussed though, the bracelet is amazing.

You really don't have to take off much: it is purely to smooth down the edge as you say. I used a regular nail filer (one of those puffy board ones), went very, very slowly until you feel the sharp edge of the case (the part that meets the strap) feel smoother. With my naked eye, I cannot tell that anything had been done to the case at all, which suits me just fine obviously. I have some pictures of my watch on a strap, but not of the smoothed down case or where the strap would meet the case (watch is currently on bracelet and I plan to keep it that way indefinitely). If you PM me, I would be happy to figure out a way to show them to you.

Well played mate. Absolute classic. Really cool on the roulette date wheel too. If (really more when) I get a DJ I'd really like one with a roulette date.

Does anybody know what all color DJ's come with a roulette date wheel? I feel like I've seen it on white and black models.
