Great Job.

How is it working with gold vs stainless steel?

Just softer and easier to remove scratches, takes a little more care when polishing the shiny bits as you'll have to clean the wheel thoroughly to prevent weird scratches from forming.

Nice work Bas (as we'd expect from you )

Can you post some detailed pics of the case and bezel before and after please?

Thanks!
Will do that tomorrow

Never polished one of these bezels, going to be interesting to do on the lapping disk. Should be a good result, otherwise we owe the customer a new bezel

Good stuff.....I gotta say I have a special soft spot for watches that looks like it's been through honest wear to the point where you can't tell there was ever polished center links.....Nice restoration.

Nice work OP, thanks for sharing.
What grade is used to get the brushed finish? (If it's not a Rolex secret)
I imagine you spent quite some time on that bracelet, the result must be gratifying.
Cheers.

Great work Bas! A couple of mine need some TLC. I will get to them sooner or later.

Your polishing job looks great!

Unfortunately, RSC Dallas didn’t do as good of a job on my 116520. They did a number on the lower left lug, and I think they rounded it out way too much. I’ll never have my watch polished again.

Pretty much everything is ordered at Rolex, even the tape.
You can get similar stuff from Bergeon, just a felt disk, a cotton disk, white polishing paste, a few different tape sizes and a satin disk.

All is done on a large polishing machine. You felt the whole thing to get rid of scratches, then highly polished it all, tape the centre links and brush over it to have the sides brushed. Sounds easier than it actually is.

Thanks for sharing. I can wear out my watches knowing someone will take care of it someday :)

BTW do you disassemble the entire bracelet and polish all the links seperately and put it all back together. Or is it all done together as one piece? What about the spring bars that has no access? Do they get replaced during restoration?

Steel spring bars are replaced, these are just cleaned and only replaced if broken as they are pretty expensive.

I always split the bracelet like shown and take the fliplock off

Thanks for sharing. Nice to see your immaculate work. Maybe someday my Daytona and BLNR will end up in your hands for a service. I am going to go wear them and not worry about scratching them too much. But will be nice to them and take care of it well.

Are you servicing the 4130 as well or only the case/bracelet?
