When I bought my Hulk at Dubai airport the lady finished boxing it up and handing it over to me , she then went under the counter and put another one straight onto display.
I went into my local AD in around 2010 time and got chatting about the Daytona , he said to me "which dial do you want?" and I walked out with the black dial non ceramic. Still worth hanging on in there though as my local AD called me yesterday and told me he finally has the ceramic Daytona for me to collect next week |

Scarcity is not necessarily a bad thing. It makes the watches more desired and valuable. I'd rather wait 2 years for my BLRO from my local AD than seeing it readily available everywhere and selling at a discount in the grey market as you see with most shop window pieces.

I bought my Sub 15 months ago from an AD at 15% off. Another AD had an LV in stock I could have had at MSRP, sat in their case for a couple weeks actually. The AD I bought from was awesome, great stock on SS sports models, they had two 114060s so I got to pick the one I wanted between them.
Glad I bought mine when I did. I was adamant about getting a new watch from an AD at a discount, only had to try two ADs to find what I was looking for. About zero chance of that happening today. I think the first AD I tried was just ahead of the curve, thankfully the second wasn’t. |

This. I don't believe it one bit that suddenly so many people are buying these watches in less than a year. The economy is good, but not this good.

Initially it was genuine cash demand, but as prices rose it attracted flippers and credit buyers, as in any hyped market, which made prices rise even higher. And don't forget the watch market is not efficient, like the stock market, it is largely a racket run by a few now huge grey dealers who have a huge profit incentive to keep raising prices and to keep the hype going.

Got my BNIB 116610LN May last year for $7550.
Shocking that they’re up to $9000+ now. |
