A member on here admitted to buying the first one Davidsw posted at $21K so some people are buying them. Like others have said, supply and demand.

Prices are slowly starting to creep down. But the waiting list at my local AD is still 20 deep...

If you want any Rolex sports model now you pretty much need to go and 'establish a relationship' with a dealer.
After that and you have purchased a few DateJusts and like watches you may purchase a sports model for retail when you purchase it together with at least one other non-sports model.
This is the new way the game is played. So instead of Rolex making and selling 1 sports model, they now sell 5 non-sports models and 1 sports model.
You heard it first here!
Otherwise rip out that cash from your wallet and pay up to 2 x or more retail price on the grey market.
Times changed, got to move with the times.

Agree.

Supply & Demand yes...but this is 100% fake supply issues. Rolex could easily put out more.

Yes, crazy.
But I'd rather have the SS Pepsi than a Daytona.

As for $10k over MSRP, someone is going to buy it and enjoy it for 1 year or longer than someone else waiting for MSRP on a waitlist.
What is that worth? To some, a lot. "Value" isn't just a dollar amount, and subjective.

You may not like it or agree with it - just as you may not agree with the fact that Picassos sell for £20m+ but that's the price. Stamping your feet is a pretty irrelevant reaction.
You can put another 0 on that Picasso.

Absolutely right. What's changed in the market is that everyone wants to own stainless steel sports watches and not just one, they're happy to own 5 or 10.

It’s slowly but surely become an “idiots only” game, and there are apparently many of us. Wait, I mean them...

The extra hype on both models is easily explained, both have been wanted for many years before their actual release, so there was a lot of pent up demand even before high resales brought even more buyers in.

The market will determine the price. If you want it you pay. If you want to wait the pricing out that is fine also.

Example; China. I'm sure that there are other powerhouse economies that 20-30 years ago did not create the demand for luxury good that they do today. What is never known is how strong will the economies be down the road. Has personal debt become an issue in some of these locals? Could personal debt cause the demand to crash. If paying double is throw away cash, have fun. Not for me.
