I wouldn’t do the trade, as I really like the 64 and the Pam does nothing for me. But, if you don’t bond with the 5164, it makes sense to move it. I’d be certain before making a move though, as you will be going from a reference that holds value well and is liquid to a more difficult piece to move should you change your mind.

Nope, if you want a big ass watch then AP ROO is the way to go, 42mm Pams are just not right proportion wise, too thick and too small, 44 is the minimum size, but even for a 44mm Pam I would say no, of course if you are tired of the 5164 and want a much lesser horological piece then why not, but for the price you can get I would get an AP ROO again. Good luck on the decision, but a Pam? Not really for most guys here, that's a huge downgrade...

I would not trade any Patek for a Panerai. Never.

I will dare to go against the grain here. If you love the Panerai, go for it. Just make sure to get lots of cash back.

Like Tony, I will go against the grain and say do it if you love it. You aren't new to Patek it seems, so go for a watch that brings a smile on your face.
I wouldn't do it, but I'm not in your position. it's only a watch :) |

In Patek forum you’ll get one answer. Panerai forum the other. Do what makes you happy.

probably the most controversial "new post" in the patek corner of TRF for awhile...
Well i guess if you already have a bunch of PPs, maybe a couple of 5167s, 5711s etc you'll probably be fine trading an extra or two off for whatever you like.. Or maybe you're from Pam's marketing department trying to get a feel of how a 30 plus thousand dollar pam would do against a similarly priced patek, then well... you're in for exactly what you assume... a big fat nope! |

This post makes me concerned for the state of higher education in America. Wow.
