Naut > Aqua all the time
Aqua only after you have Naut. Imho.

I would also take the 5711, maybe later you can buy also another one, but a classic Nautilus should be in a collection, if it’s steel, rose gold or platinum is another question.

5711 - just miles classier, more history, way more recognition and more desirable.

The Aquanaut is the half brother that doesn't have the right/same gene pool. It doesn't look nor feel as good as the Nautilus to me.

So get the 5711 and ignore the complication on the Aquanaut which you are unlikely to use much at all.....

it fit me perfectly. TBH 42mm is my ideal size and Patek 42 wears a bit smaller anyway. For example, 5524 isnt nearly as big as some other 42's i have had and the 5968 was similar in it not wearing bigger than stated size.

Its really amazing IRL and if i didn't have a 5164 i would get it for sure but travel time i use, chronographs not nearly as much

Having not seen one in person, what you have experienced is what I would think. I have two 42mm offshores and think they fit fine, but on the large end. My 15300 definitely wears larger than my 5164, so I get what you are saying in that the Patek 42 would wear smaller than AP. If I had the ability to buy one sight unseen, I would likely jump on it without much thought at all.

each and every nautilus -even the least desirable one if there is such a thing - beats each and every aquanaut.

sold. Ill take one of each

Seriously though, thats part of the appeal for me. Its an underrated Patek sports watch vs the nautilus for sure but the key difference to me is that is made for a strap. Nautilus on a strap doesnt look right to me. So its a better option if you want a strap watch.

Yes, Patek have done well here in making the Nautilus so well suited to the bracelet and yet the Aqua which is so similar in design works so much better on the strap.

Curious what market prices for these watches will be in 5 years. 5711 market prices at $50k can't be sustained too long.

Since I am an Aqunaut fan, I would prefer the 5968, but I would want to try it on first to see how it sits on the wrist.

If you’re in a suit M-F that’s the best case to be made for a nautilus in my opinion. Other wise the aquanaut is so much more sporty, youthful, modern, legible and subtle. (Without that orange strap )
