this does start to limit the usefulness of watches though. People already say dont travel with them and then when you start adding all these no-go activities it makes me wonder why people even buy them

It seems fine on my motorcycle, where the vibrations are a many times worse.

Almost always wear a watch when I mountain biking, it's rough on the bike especially if you crash

When I buy a Rolex it is for it to remain on. Period. All the State LE training I wore an Explorer II because it could take the thousands of incidences of direct recoil and it did. It got pretty scuffed up once or twice like the time it was stuck in between a suspect and my car trunk on my arm, but those years it kept perfect time and never needed repair. This is another one of those, ‘can I wear my Rolex in the shower’ threads. Dear God. Wear that little tank.

Only wear it if you're also boxing in an MMA match while riding the bike.

The sub date is only rated to 300m.

That's not very far on a bike. Anything more than 300 meters and you're pushing your luck.

Do you think its ok for me to wear my watch whilst cycling to/from work? I’m mindful that vibrations from potholes, irregular road surfacing etc may damage the internal movement of the watch.

Also,

Are there any cyclists on the forum that wear their watches whilst cycling? If so, is there anything available that could protect the watch in case you fell off the bike?

Thanks in advance.
You should bubble wrap your entire arm before leaving the house

Why so much hate on OP? It’s a valid question and unlike many of the other stupid “is it safe” threads that pop up here. I’ve wondered the same myself while biking long distances on extremely uneven roads that the constant vibrations might not be great for the movement.

Then you too should bubble wrap your arm before leaving your home

the problem generally, is people in a lot of these threads are not concerned about themselves they are concerned about their watch.

Traveling they are worried their watch will get stolen, not necessarily that they will get injured. Mountain biking, they are not worried they will fall and break their neck, they are worried about scratching the watch.... or worried about vibrations on the watch, and not what such severe vibrations might do to your brain if they are actually that severe.

IMO most of the time if its not safe for the watch, its not safe for you.

I really think some people if they were walking down the street and fell, they would break their fall with their face rather than put their arm out to break the fall... because of the watch.

I have worn all of my Rolex Professional models riding my mountainbikes over the years. They’re at least as tough as you and your bike are.

Poor Hans, all the r&d spent developing one of the most robust and waterproof watches in the world, only to have people question if they can ride a bike with it.

Listen people, you can also add to the list of places not to wear your Rolex:
Dinner table, the up and down movement of eating and raising a glass may break the rotor, not to mention the dangerous metal utensils.
Pushing baby strollers is also now on the list, especially if it's raining outside.
smh
