but good god, the movement is like a tiny mechanical universe in a gold case.

I will say it....the movement on the ALS just is brilliant over the Nautilus.

Congratulations...these are 2 amazing watches. Was there an option to keep the 5712 and dato?

That dato movement is mind blowing

I love it! I prefer the 5711 to the 5712, so I think you did well

perhaps.
ultimately, however, down the line whether i had the 11 or 12, acquiring the 11R would've required letting the other nautilus go. unless i didn't have the datograph - but now that i have it, i'm SO glad i was lucky enough to grab it, i'm just in awe.

so in that scenario of now having the dato, even if i kept the 12 it would've had to go if i had had the oppty to grab an 11R. and having the 11 now gives me not only, imo, a better position to swap it out later for the R...but, frankly, having TWO iconic pieces such as a dato and a steel 5711, i think, is a worthy/better combo.

Mitchell - even if the 5711R does edge out the 5711A in the looks department slightly. The 5711-1A is infinitely more wearable. I've owned all 3 5711s and for me its:

5711 Blue > 5711 Rose > 5711 White.

Congrats! Very nice Datograph. Though I slightly prefer the older 40mm version with the roman numerals.

You still should add a 5711-1R down the road. You know you want it.
