I found the PT to be more durable. Does weigh noticeably more than the WG

Platinum would be my pick, but make sure to try it on before making your decision.

As others have commented, I would also go for the WG based on the availability of the fluted bezel.

The platinum with Roman glacier is the most beautiful watch ever conceived. That being said, I’m in agreement that it’s something missing with no fluted. To me a sub and a DD fluted bezel are the staples of the brand

A Day Date should have a fluted bezel. I guess I'm stubborn when it comes to iconic designs. So I vote WG.

I agree wholeheartedly with this.
Platinum has extra mass over white gold, is purer (95% compared to 75%) and will polish without losing metal.
You have all the best attributes plus customisation of the bezel.

Regards

WG on a platinum case will look a bit odd, also good luck finding the part and watchmaker to do the swap.

Platinum with baguette bezel is the way to go IMO, just need to find some extra cash in the sock drawer

While I like the look of the fluted bezel, and tried a WG DD on, the wow factor of the platinum was so incredible that I couldn't resist.

Anyone know the price of the platinum DD40 if one were to buy from an AD? Rolex’s website doesn’t list the retail price, and the gray market for the platinum is not as liquid as the gold models. Just wondering what the msrp and discount to be expected from an AD would be.
