This could very much refer to Rolex at the moment.

I am laughing, as if threads here will matter or somehow influence the Rolex market. Let the doomsayers talk bubble, you know what they say about solid markets rage their paddle on their butts.

I say NAY

When you think of how many "MILLION" Rolex's are out there, surely they can't all be worth 5-10K each, when people have had enough of them and want to liquidate!

Bubble bursting

Relax. It’s not going to be like the tech bubble of 2000/2001 or real estate collapse of 2007/2008. The underlying fundamentals are too strong.

In 2000, there were hundreds of tech companies that literally didn’t make or have any money but they had ridiculously high market valuations. Today, high tech companies like Facebook and Amazon that are driving the stock market decline are actually making a lot of money and are extremely profitable.

Back in 2007, the banks didn’t have sufficient capital. Today, they are better capitalized than ever and could withstand a 2007 like real estate collapse. However, we’re not going to see anything as severe as that anyway.

With all that said, watches that had soft “pre-owned” value to begin with are going to decline further. Panarai, IWC, Hublot, JLC.

Rolex & Patek might decline a little but there isn’t going to be a total market meltdown in the pre-owned values.

OP -- the DOW is at 23,325 as of this post, and the S&P is at 2,725.

I get that we've had a rough October, but we're still +30% off of 2015 levels. Let's not call for an economic meltdown until it actually happens.

Until then, buy stocks and hold them. Oh, and buy Rolex and wear them.

I for one think this forum needs more discussion about

warranty cards
boxes
stickers
valuation
transport containers (aka "Coffins")
Dealer deep state conspiracies on supply.

these topics really reflect the values and the interests of the modern Rolex buyer.

When I purchased my last watch, I was shocked literally horrified; to see that there was a watch??? Yes a watch in the box. What about everything else???

I really wanted the stickers. And the plastic shipping container??? Incredible in it's feel and texture. Not to mention how good it looked on my wrist.

Thankfully the AD let me keep my warranty card, which I wear on a chain around my neck. I really worry that not having the aforementioned baubles and trinkets will severely devalue my watch, an investment I made in the hopes of outperforming Real estate and the S&P 500.

Finally, when I inquired about a SS Sub for a friend of mine who is in the market, the dealer coughed. Stared at me for what seemed an eternity, then looked nervously at the floor.... "Please. Don't ask me about a sport model... Keep walking and forget you even asked me." Please...I beg you..."

As I left the store and walked around the corner in the crisp fall air, In the corner of my eye, I noticed a car slowing down; inching towards the curb. It's engine idling. It was a Crown Vic. Unmarked except for a small gold Crown on the
door. The driver and passenger saying nothing as the window slid down.

To my right, in the alley behind the store, a panel van, full of grey market dealers. Crazed like merchants at a rug bazaar, were grabbing boxes of SS sports models by the dozen and shoving them into the back.

Rolex prices aren't going to fall only secondary when some people need money and guess what they will continue to go back up!

my position, i dont care, when i bought, the last thing on my mind was profit, i just wanted the watch, if it fell back the world would still turn for me.

But why would it crash anyway? there are markets all over the world for rolex, millions of people can afford them, many on here have mutiple rolex, its not like rolex have doubled the price, they just make, sell and service watches.

people see federer and want one, they wont crash, not expensive enough.

The future is very easy to predict. Driverless cars and trucks, drone home to airport shuttles, lower stock prices, personal jetpacks, Mars tourism...they are all coming. It's the timeline that is hard to predict. Next month, next year, 2025? Nobody knows.

How about a new section on TRF titled "Pricing and Availability".
