Congrats! Excellent choice with the SD43

Buying that "first one" can be stressful, I know exactly how you feel!

A couple things will help you sleep better when shopping for your next one:
- Get a set of quality screwdrivers and learn to adjust the bracelet yourself. (ie. German/Swiss/Japanese)
- Just buy from the Trusted Sellers here. You'll quickly figure out who they are by monitoring the for sale forum. (For example there are tons of SD43 and Subs available and there will be no need to authenticate or pressure test.) And if something isn't listed, these guys can get it for you!

Welcome to TRF! Wonderful first post and quite the story - had me engaged the whole time. I am really glad that you got the SD you wanted and you got the fit you liked. Your son is going to LOVE that watch when it finally comes his way.

OP spend so much time, nerves and effort(including writing this agonizingly long story) that I think it didn't cost the effort for purchasing one luxury item. This story prove me one more time - spare the trouble and buy from AD only.

Congratulations OP on your new acquisition.
Hopefully I didn’t miss this question being asked!
Why did you need to get the watch pressure tested?
Was it because when they were authenticating the it they had to remove the case back?

Congrats - I don't care about stickers but their arrogance in removing them without your consent would have really angered me. Good idea to remove the divers extension, its makes it wear much more comfortable.

Congrats and thanks for the story.

I'd be pissed as hell if they removed stickers from a watch I did not buy from them. The hell with that.

I got my first Rolex as something to pass on to my son (he's 3, so he's got a long wait).

Congrats! The journey is part of what makes the watch so special! Hope it isn't too terrible waiting to wear it!

OP, I know that's not your Kia, it's a loaner while your BMW is in the shop. No worries.

Hey, seriously, great story, thanks for sharing! And congrats on the new watch.

If I may, a suggestion: take it out of the safe, wear it and enjoy it. When (if) you decide to give it to your son, have it serviced and polished.

Great story, congratulations on the SD. I dislike Tourneau and they will never see a dime of my money. Sorry you went through all of that.

Thank you all for the positive comments. I must admit, the removal of the stickers annoyed me at first, but I figured it wasn't going to be resold and I didn't want to make a big deal out of it. Hopefully, when someone brings in a watch to Tourneau with stickers, they'll know there's a possibility the stickers will be removed from reading my story. The watch will be in the safe until May 4th as it was "officially" a birthday present. Thank you all again.

Awesome story. I'm on the hunt for one as well. I have a 16600 (my first Rolex purchase) and a 116660 D-Blue. The SD43 would be icing on the cake for me.

Find a Rolex 2100 screwdriver (originally came with the Sea Dweller 16660 and 16600) and you'll never have to bring it back to them or anyone else.

There are better screwdrivers, but the fact that it originally came with a SD makes it kinda cool IMO.

What a story, glad you finally got your watch. The best part however is that you plan to pass it down one day. My father bought his Rolex 40 years ago and wore it every day for decades, and just over a year ago he gifted it to me. It is my most prized possession and I know your son will feel the same
