I think the TT would be a better deal. I also prefer the look of the TT models over the SS. Although the new SS with the red numbers on the dial, looks very elegant. I don't know the model number, but it's the main Daytona on the Rolex website if you click on "Daytona". Very nice looking watch indeed.

ADs will sell the TT for a discount (up to 20% I believe) off MRSP but maybe not for the S/S version. So if you're asking which one is the better bargain, I'd have to say the TT. Also the TT has greater dial choices. Then again, the S/S is supposed to be one of the world's most sought-after watches, so it's all up to you to decide what's important to you...Good luck!

Yeah i think i've made my decision but firstly it's too early for me (thinking of pulling the triger by the end of this year i'm just doing my homework now), secondly i want to wait for basel and lastly i gotta start researching the market for good deals. Crossing my fingers and hoping that basel will not release any watch that will grab my attention because then i will be doomed again as i'll have to wait until it hits the AD's to check it out and form a decision

Well good things come to those who wait !

The value of SS daytone is mainly due to demand & supply. You need to pay a premium to buy it at market price. The premium may be paid by cash; long time waiting or the favour of your watch dealer.

In Hong Kong, Cash market price of 116520 was HK$9X,XXX in 2007. Early Oct. '07, I sent my friend's white daytone to a pawn shop for HK$70,000 in cash and the very same day, I purchased a 116523G at HK$80,xxx.

At present, the cash price of 116520 is only HK$75,XXX (list price HK$69,XXX) whereas you need to pay for almost HK$100,000 for a 116523G and the pawn only offers HK$5X,XXX for 116520.

I don't think SS daytona really holds its value better as the premium due to speculative demand can change.
