My reaction to the TT SD43
Quote:
But Rolexes ARE luxury jewelry to the masses. There are way more buyers who see it that way than there are who are interested in “heritage”, “tool watch” and other terms we WIS throw around that don’t mean a hill of beans to the majority of buyers out there. Rolex is an aspirational brand...they have to cater more to that buyer than those of us interested in the fact that this model has historically been all SS and “purpose built”...especially since that purpose has long since passed tool watches by with much better tools. |

I think its great .... the VVIP's will hopefully jump on these and the WG YM release and leave space for the rest of us to maybe get what we are waiting for.
There is no reasoning with those out there who simply want the newest and desirable releases, so it will sell.

It is silly, I'd never buy it. But I'm sure it will sell just fine for Rolex.

It’s about making money. I get it. But imho Rolex sold their collective soul.

Why is this such a big deal? I bought the SD43 because I wanted a larger size watch. I get it’s a tool watch but so is the Submariner. That’s comes in all finish’s. I always liked the two tone sub but wanted something bigger. I’ll be looking to find this new Sea Dweller. Different strokes people. Plenty of other Rolex modes I don’t find appealing. All these new models will be hot sellers. Just the way the market is right now.

![]() For some of us, we don’t like change. We hold certain thing sacred and the Seadweller in SS was just one of those for me. Call it history of the reference, or call me sappy ![]() I truly hope the Submariner isn’t next. |

I think people need to get use to this type of stuff from Rolex. I see Rolex moving more and more to luxury/jewelry by design. This “tool” business is probably going away. There’s a reason they brought Tudor back from the dead. Tudor is to fill that tool watch/lower price point segment, and I doubt we will see much overlap there. Rolex is far too cunning for that. |

I’m fine with it as I’m hoping it’s a prelude to a YG model or even platinum

I don’t understand the outrage, its not like there hasn’t been TT submariners with serti dials in the past.

Sure, people here are having conniption fit here, but I just find that funny. What it is made out of doesn't make it any less of a tool. Maybe you feel it's not as toolish, and it's foolish, but I think it's coolish. ![]() |

If Rolex continues to offer the SS version along side of the new TT model, then who cares? Rolex already makes a bazillion models I would never want. My wish list is simple. At some point I'm going to have an SD4K. Boom --- done. That and my GMT2 16710, plus my Omega Speedmaster, are more than enough for me. Any more watches and I might get dizzy.
