YES I think that I might really like that, I will wait and see.

I don't own any of the two, but I think the Explorer II white dial looks better.... just my

I'll probably get one by the end of the year if everything goes as plan.

The EXP II is for real men, and it can travel with you through any timezone....

Here is where I spend my weekends. Climbing the rocks and hiking the trails... No sissy watch for me.

Beautiful pics! I love the southwest deserts.......and I'd love to move there. By the way, its -18 degrees C here tonight........

I haven't done any research, so I will add what my thoughts are based on what I've read on watch forums. The Explorer II is not as popular as the GMTIIs because it does not look like a Submariner.

You can hear people saying that the Triple-lock should be on the GMTs and the Expys, but then again, it's a functional device that's for divers in particular. The Expy II is the most underrated sports model. I like it coz it looks versatile and is clean and rugged.

I have only ever spotted four explorer II's in the wild. I've seen many Subs and GMTs, so I guess people may not be aware/interested in the Exp II for this reason.

Note: I am looking at buying a Submariner later, so I do love the look.

you know what I love about the white faced ExplorerII, when I in my car and direct sunlight hits the dial, the white shade in this watch is amazing!!!!

Exp11 - Closest to the original spirit of Rolex. Durable, quietly understated and immensly practical in all situations....none of those gimmicky GMT fripperies for me

I often wondered why anyone would buy a GMT II when the EXP II was less money. ;) As I recall, they had the same movement until recenty.

Actually, as others have said, and as it is in my case: the white dial, and the sleeker lower profile, fixed bexel.

It is a more versatile watch, comfortably covering the entire range of activies from driving a desk, to lounging about the house or engaging in other weekend R&R activies, to sports activies near water, sand, dirt and rocks, plus travel outside of one's home time zone.

I think it is the most well-balanced of the Rolexes from an aesthetic, comfort, function and size standpoint. It also is a stealthy watch, and not obviously a Rolex. Understated.

I like the GMT II, but it seemed much bulkier, and the moving bezel was not a selling point (I have never had to keep track of three time zones). Plus, no white dial.

im probably the only one on the site, but the explorer has always been my least favorite Rolex... i understand the uses etc, but the bezel does nothing for me personally..

I'm going to stick my stick out (a little) and predict that when the current Exp II is updated, it will become more desirable/collectable. In the same way as the previous Exp II.

In the meanwhile, some gratuitous black dial pics..........

Cheers

Shrug... I use the bezel quite a bit to calculate proper local time in various regions. If you work for an International company, it's handy to have a reference as long as you know the GMT offset for each regional office.

The last trip I went on (last month) - I wore my MkII 3910 Vantage.

My 16750 GMT is the best of both worlds - two time zones with the rotating bezel, quick set date, ruggedly handsome good looks, chip resistant plexi crystal.

I would like an explorer, but it's a bit hard to justify when you've got one of these.

They still have the same movement. I also love the GMT and hope to have one iteration some day, but the longer I own my Explorer II, the more wedded to it I become.
