Great thread! My wife uses it and I hate it. She does my laundry separate. I actually prefer my towels a bit on the rough side. Get yourself some new skivies!

I don't use fabric softener. Instead, I use distilled white vinegar in the fabric softener cup purchased by the gallon at Costco. It deodorizes and softens water leaching out all the laundry soap. No, your clothes don't smell like vinegar.

I also use an all natural laundry detergent to reduce irritants.

We stopped using dryer sheets and fabric softener over 10 years ago. It really isn't needed.

Fabric Softener SUCKS, especially on cotton, most especially on Towels.
Your towel will lose significant absorbency when washed/dried with fabric softener.
Get rid of all of it!

Dryer sheets? 98% of Spain doesn't even own a dryer, much less use the one they might have. I've turned my dryer on about 3 times in the last 18 months. Dryer sheets? That's some fancy nonsense.

Playoffs?!

Our family has been in the schemata biz for decades. Odds are you have at least 3 clothing items within your home our family has had a hand in.

Please, never use fabric softener.... and dry your clothes on medium heat setting.

I did not know this. This is probably one of the many reasons why I, too, have been banned from doing laundry.

I dislike perfums in general and avoid them on soap, deodorant etc. I don't mind softener as long as my clothes don't smell perfume after washing.

It’s nice to see the feminine side of TRF guys but really?

If FN has to air (npi) his fabric softener problem on the forum instead of discussing this with his boss then ........

There is a joke section here...you know.

And it's very bad for many fabrics. It will ruin high tech synthetics from Arcteryx or designer denim. I don't use it, it's much better to buy quality towels and bedding.

When I was in the working world my wife started using fabric softer on my uniform shirts. Didnt take too long to figure out once my pits started sweating there was a putrid ammonia smell that was just nasty. Took me a long time to get her to stop using it on my shirts. But I could tell the moment she used it again. I hate fabric softener!

No real backstory... the wife for whatever reason started buying fabric softener. She loved how soft the towels were and started using it on my clothes. But the weird thing was that only the underwear and undershirts started dropping.

I hope that in 2020. I don’t have to deal with this at all. It might just have to be new under garments every months

Got it.

Remind her to google all the other uses for it. It’s an amazing thing.

Wish I would have read this 20+ years ago when I was in the working world. My wife doesnt let me do the wash either (I over stuff it) and she started using a fabric softener of some type and when I went to work my white T shirts would start to smell rank in short order after I had been sweating in it especially in the arm pit area. The smell wasnt from BO at least not yet and was do to the fabric softener she used. It was a very strong ammonia type of smell. I had to ask her after many many stinky encounters to please stop using it because it was getting embarrassing at work. She stopped using it for everything after that.

Laundry is a chore tasked to my 7 year old. He does a good job, my wife and I help fold and hang. Dryer sheets are the easiest modality for him. I like Kirkland liquid fabric softener, but it’s a fair trade off. That boy will put in work for the spare change in my pockets.

I do some laundry, mainly my clothes because I use high temperatures which the wife does not like. Anyway, never use anything but detergent and use the non-scented kind. Funny that some of us wear white underwear as apparently millennials like those colored ones with legs, like bike shorts. I'm a dinosaur.

I'm not allowed to do laundry since I'm a lover of grey. Put all the clothes together and sooner or later they'll all be greyish.

Now all I do is the ironing. 4 hours a day.

Or pink!

GREAT THREAD, HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL YUNZ, N'AT.

P.S. We don't use fabric softener and use unscented detergent.
