The OP is really a classic, just a beautiful unassuming watch which you will keep forever and will never go out of style. Of course the 58 is gorgeous as well so there are no wrong answers, but I would get the OP first and then if one day you feel like starting a little collection, the 58 will fit perfectly.

I have only these exact two watches. The 59 and OP39 (rhodium).

I started with the 58. And I would still go for the 58 first.

Budget is clearly something on your mind, in which case going for the cheaper one first might not be such a bad idea.

But just go for whichever appears more to you.

Can’t really go wrong with either.

Because I am guessing the desire to own a Rolex is what brought him here, and as much as I fell Tudor are great, they won’t scratch the itch of wanting a Rolex

I agree completely, it was that desire for Rolex that I actually heard about Tudor. I am just saying I have absolutely no regrets starting my collection with the BB58 before my OP39.

I really think there’s absolutely nothing wrong with starting with Tudor, and I would pick up more Tudor if any more catch my fancy in future.

Especially for a starter watch for someone on a budget.

But mainly still, I think OP should pick whichever one appeals more on an aesthetic level.

Depends what you have in your collection. Both are great but I personally will go with a white dial OP.

My thoughts exactly, says it all. There is no replacement for a ROLEX and those who buy something else to scratch the itch usually just ended up buying a ROLEX later on anyways.

Nobody is disputing anything you are saying. You asked why, so this is my reasoning. Everyone should get whatever they want, and that goes without saying. Speaking from experience, people often try and justify/talk themselves in to an alternative to something thinking it will appease them, and it can be a costly mistake
