A dip in a liquid jewelry cleaner will likely remove that oxidation in no time without abrasives. There's a small brush included to work it into the crevices.

I’d definitely get your water parameters checked, I’ve looked after/ maintained clients pools for over 20yrs & it’s amazing what can happen if you get it wrong & I bet they’ll want a water sample anyway if you’re claiming from Rolex. Good luck.

Yes - I shall be going to an AD today. Although I can’t take it back to the original AD I purchased it from because it was in Barbados while on holiday (the only AD on the island)

First line of action will be to take it to an AD and insist that Rolex sort that out.
The AD may try to polish your brand new watch ( and take away some of the edges and substance in the fluted bezel that way.

And if the chemicals in this particular hot tub do that to your Rolex, I would always wonder, what they do with your skin. Yikes!

Jewellery cleaning solution in small amounts on a soft cloth. I wouldn't even bother with an AD if the watch was purchased in Barbados..

Do you know what chemicals were in a hot tub? Because I want to have no contact between them and my watch. Never knew something you use in a hot tub could do this to gold.

Looks like a electroplating process has occurred depositing trace elements on to the Gold,
I think sending back to Rolex factory for them to investigate and reverse the process is best.

I would definitely avoid any offers of of a polish up buy your AD as it will only get off what the cloth can reach not any internal parts of the bezel or strap components.

Perfect take it to the AD and back to RSC for either polishing or replacement, imho. First of all the depth of the reaction has to be very shallow into the metal so polishing will recover it. I suspect there could be something off in the mixture of the rose gold however. If that is the case then replacement would be the correct and ultimate solution for Rolex.

Taking away the edges of that gorgeous fluted bezel through clumsy polishing would in my opinion be a real disaster. Please don't let that happen, OP. A jeweler can probably clean this without any polishing.

It’s not Rose Gold - it’s meant to be Yellow Gold.

How do I get in contact with Rolex directly then if a service centre or AD won’t assist?

Have to agree only possible explanation the precious metal or the 25% of metal alloy in the 18Ct gold has had a chemical reaction to whatever was in the hot tub.

Don't worry, no one thinks the watch is fake. Looks like it is the Bromide that caused this. Get some Cape Cod or other polish and use a bit to see if the YG is revealed again, if so then you can relax knowing your watch can be restored fully by Rolex SC, hopefully for free if you explain your situation, or by any competent jeweller for a small fee.
