116520 is an all time classic. Keep it and enjoy it.

Sounds like you are just bored with it, at the moment..
Buy something else for £8k, lock your beautiful daytona away for a while. And come back to it later after wearing your new piece for a few months; open the box and you will go Wow.. and think to yourself ‘glad I didn’t sell this!’

It's my birthday on Monday so I'm out this weekend for a family meal, I might just put it on and see. The last time I wore it was at the Goodwood festival of Speed last year as I thought it appropriate.

I know what you mean though, you get so used to what you have on that when you put another watch on having not looked at it for a while, it's like a new watch.

No dice. The 520 was the first Daytona with the in-house movement and someday will likely be remembered for that. The 520 marks the transition from tool watch (though with some shine for versatility) to jewelry with the ceramic bezel which is more likely to fail given it’s not encased like the sub ceramic bezel. Yes yes, scratch resistant. Please, spare me. Most here will
Never get that many scratches in the ss bezel anyway. Even if they did, easy to replace.

Ceramic is hard but a cheap material and offers no real upgrade. Also, the 520 walks a better line between dressy and sporty and is extremely versatile in that regard. The white dial 500, I have seen in the metal and the contrast between black and white is stark, bordering on jarring and unintegrated to my eye. The black ceramic version is far more pleasing to my eye.

The 520 also offers the ability to change the dial from black to white, so that may be the way to go in your case.

I look at the 500 as almost another ss version and not an upgrade as many folks view it here. Same material, same great movement, but far more $$. What’s the upside?

I would keep the 520. I prefer it to the 500 and also it is not worth another 8000 on top of your watch.

Just a quick update for those interested.

Blowers have an 116500 in stock priced at £22,950 so I asked what they would allow me for my 116520 in part exchange as I've heard that they are quite good to deal with. The offer is upto £10,000 allowance for my 2013 116520 full set leaving £12,950 cash to put in......

£10k for a full set 6 year old 116520 in this market is a total insult

Haha what a joke, where do these dealers get their prices from.
The 116520 is a classic and from a value point is continually rising in price.
Any 116520 owner should hold that watch if they own as it’s a stunner and if you have been following prices they have exploded in value as of late.
A year ago a 2010 model, full set could be had around 10k in the UK,that watch today you would be hard pushed to get it for less than 15k or more.
A well known dealer friend has told me it won’t be long before full set 116520’s will be reaching the 20k mark.
You have to realise that they are not making that model anymore

Tbh an 116500 is the only watch that would make me consider parting with my 116520 but the price would have to be fair. I think Blowers were a long from attempting to be fair with their 10k offer.

To acquire a white dial 116500 with as little as possible to change. I thought 5-6k would be possible although since I started the thread the ceramics seem to have rocketed even further in value.
