Great collection. Tasteful with diverse and varied examples. Impressive.

I'm also not really into Rolex Sports models either. I love most of them and even owned a 5 digit SS and a 'Bluesy' but I just didn't bond with them. I'd wanted the blue Sub for years but when purchased it just wasn't me.

Anyway, it looks like your Rhodium dial piece has a unique bezel. Is this what's referred to as the Engine Turned bez? If so, is it optional, standard or just the stock bezel of that era. (They seemed ubiquitous in the late 80's or early 90's but I'm guessing.)

Any details by anyone would be appreciated.

Mark

Refreshing thread indeed

Nice to get a break from the subjects that are beat to death around here most of which is centered on the newer Professional models. You sir have a wonderful tasteful collection. A good variety of different style dials, bracelets and of you have the bezels cornered with a smooth, engine turned, and fluted.

The calibers in the Datejusts are workhorses too the family of 1570 for the earlier ones to the 3xxx of the later. On the wrist they are so light weight and the perfect size (for me),

I have some early 4 and 5 digit models Datejusts and Oyster perpetuals from 60s/70s/80s I will hope to be posting in the next few weeks. Thank you for sharing yours!

I also love tapestry dials and wish Rolex would bring them back in the DJ line.

Beautiful DateJust collection, the DJ TT 1601 was my first Rolex (a gift from my Dad) and was my first love with the brand, now I'm more into divers but I would love to buy a New DJ TT Jubilee, a classic watch!

Dear Hundegger,

Thanks!

that is a very nice watch case from the seller Rainer Schuster from Ingolstadt, Germany.

He sells them globally under his ebay Account:
https://www.ebay.de/usr/finestboxes

He´s a friend of mine and I have already bought 3 different sizes of those boxes. So totally trustworthy even when shipping overseas!

Sizes up to 18 watches possible. And very big, so also a 47mm Panerai on a vintage strap will fit in there.

Hi Mark,

thanks a lot! The Rhodium dial is a 16030 and the engine turned bezel is the standard bezel for that reference. However you mostly find very polished examples and they change their appearance quite significantly after polishing, as the higher parts become very shiny and the lower parts are partly touched. I have to admit, this is not the original bezel from 85, it has been replaced by Rolex with a new one on my wish.

Great! I would love to see them in the current line-up as well, I think its the most interesting dial and it looks fabulous in different lightings. hard to capture on pictures.

The DD has a rather similar one, but it only has vertical lines and is not as sophisticated as the Tapestry ones.

I am so happy about the lots of positive comments, I honestly thought this thread would not last long, as most members are not too fond of the DJ, but I am so surprised and humbled by the answers here!

I will soon post some wristshots!
