I prefer the sunburst dial on the YG.I'm starting to warm up to the WG.

I bought the YG a few months ago. Dont really see a reason to pay the premium for WG when it looks like steel to most ppl.

I thought I wanted YG. It is beautiful in pictures. Until I tried it on. Was just too loud for me. Maybe rethink my options, and I got a white gold. Much more comfortable for me to wear, doesn’t scream “look at my watch” like the yellow gold can I think. Yellow gold is perfect for a lot of people. Just not for me.

I vote YG. The contrast with the blue dial is amazing.

I went with YG/Blue sunburst. It is a striking piece. If the WG had a dark blue sunburst dial, I may have considered it.

It's a tough call. I'm not typically a fan of wg but can appreciate the stealth factor and to me, the wg sub has an "it" factor. End of the day, I'd opt for the yg as I prefer the gold in it's natural color and the sunburst dial. I also have a bit of appreciation for the yg sub's history as a luxury item.

To me, the WG is more modern. My dad owned the YG blue dial for 25 years. I am glad I made the choice I did.

Rolex's WG is impossible to fake, and I don't think anyone has even tried. Also Rolex's WG contains significant amounts of platinum, so think of it as wearing a partly platinum watch.

The YG Sub whether black or blue has the same dial and bezel as the two-tone version.

The WG Smurf has no 5-digit predecessor and no mid-level model leading up to it. It is one of a kind...the clear winner in my book.
Yellow gold will never go out of style either. It is gold in it's natural color and has been worn for thousands of years before white gold was ever thought of or invented.

There is one but you must pay for it and like sapphire and diamond.

I had a chance to wear the WG and the YG (albeit the previous ref number than whats out now). I prefer the WG personally bc the bezel and the dial really pop out. In addition it’s a unique piece. Lots of two tones, but you’d be an individual with the WG. Good luck with your decision.

I thought about buying the YG sub. Luckily the Wynn Rolex had both in stock. The yellow highlights work with the sunburst, I could stare at it all day. That being said, the WG in person is way more impressive. No picture truly captures the smurf. It is an in person kinda thing, very visceral.

I showed both watches to my wife and asked her. She immediately picked the smurf and said no contest.

I understand the YG is the icon, but I chose the WG, no contest. Smurf time, baby!

Personally I’d go WG. I don’t really love YG. If we were talking Everose I’d say go Everose but given the choice I’d go WG all day. Congrats on either though, both awesome watches!

I opted for the yellow gold version......my thinking was that if you are going to go for it then you might as well be big and bold!!! Great watch and you would be fortunate to own any of the various versions

If I was in the market for this kind of watch, I'd go YG.

Yellow gold goes well with blue or black.
I wish my boutique would offer me a Black Sub in YG.

There's just something about the YG/Blue combination that really gets me going. So, bluesy for me.

If the smurft had sunburst blue, it would be a home run to me, and one I would immediately acquire. Hoping they produce a platinum subby with sunburst ice blue dial one of these days.

In yellow gold I gravitate towards gold/black. Gold/black is classic and a combo I will never get tired of. The gold/blue is simply stunning but I feel as I age, it will become a little too loud/colorful/blingy.

You can't go wrong with any of these options. Just a matter of personal preference.

Yellow gold all day. I think the smurf looks good but if you're putting down that much money then treat yourself. I've only seen one out in the wild and not at an AD. There would have to be some serious discounts for me to pick white over yellow.

I agree, WG is very under-the-radar. I've never seen a "Smurf" in the flesh (in the metal?), but I'd imagine its gravitas is appreciated when handled & best viewed not through a computer screen. I love the look of the YG/SS Submariners, but I don't think I'd go for a full YG Sub. If I were to go full YG, I'd look at DDs.
