Thanks Abel for such an interesting and informative post. Great pictures. Congratulations for your success in getting the SD and your AD and their contacts in sourcing it for you.

Thanks JDC for your kind words. Yes, I was very fortunate with this finding of my SD, and keep grateful with my AD for his kind help. He is really a good old friend!
Have a nice week end! Kind regards, Abel

Hi all, I'm new to TRF but found this older thread on the Sea Dweller. I hope it's OK to dredge it up (sorry if that is an abused pun here).
I'm trying to decide between a pre-owned Sea Dweller and a 16610 aluminum-bezeled Submariner Date and hoped that you might provide some guidance and advice. First, I am NOT a deep sea diver so the capabilities of the SD, let alone the Sub Date, are beyond my needs. But I love the look and feel of both watches and will wear the one I ultimately buy on a daily basis (this will be my first Rolex). Personally, I'm torn on the cyclops -- I like the fact that the date is more visible to my aging eyes, but think the SD has a cleaner looking dial. Not sure what the weight difference is between the two watches but that could be a factor at the end of a long day. Finally, would the price I'd be likely to pay be similar for the two watches of comparable vintage and condition? Thanks very much for your input! John McLeod |

Abel,
I've always considered the SD to be THE Rolex diver and as a result of your post, I added one to my collection earlier this year. Each time I wear it, I become more enamored with it. You have a nice collection of Rolex divers but I consider the SD to be the centerpiece. Fr. John† |

I have a Z Sea-Dweller as well. The best watch I have ever owned, and is definitely my favorite Rolex. I really want a DSSD and a Sub-C now, but my SD isn't going anywhere. I grin every time I look down at it.
