Congrats it's a great piece! Sorry to dissent but no Nautilus is a good daily imho. The bezel is just too fragile. If you are completely ok with beating it up, I guess then that is different. It would bother me though. We see relatively few images of scratched up 11 and 12 bezels on the forum. They don't look good. I love my 5712, but my daily is a GMT-II C.

I wear mine every day. It's gathered some love marks but I consider it part of enjoying the watch for what it is... the ultimate daily! It just goes perfectly with anything, more so than any other watch. :)

No issues what so ever to daily it. Bezel is not that fragile that people makes it out to be. Sure, if you cant handle a single hairline it's gonna be a struggle to use but else it's not problem. My steel royal oak is one of my go to travel watches and it's been through alot, only minor scratches and harlines after 4 years.

Agree! I expect some marks before the end of the week :) I don’t mind, and as I’d expect wearing a watch quite often.

Yes...minor marks are going to happen, I don’t mind, and when it gets a few....the enjoyment is a bit easier, IMO.

Amazing piece Richard, congrats! Curious to know which one would leave if staying at 5 pieces, but the week has 7 days so perhaps room for one more!

I’ve used mine as a daily for the last 4 years... I have scratches and a couple dings.... all can be fixed at service if need be. Wear the hell out of it! Life’s to short !

7 days....good point..lol I’m actually good with 3-5 pieces. I only have one without the date and I find myself looking for quite a bit when I wear it. Not a deal breaker but sometimes annoying. So it’s got me thinking...I wouldn’t mind recouping some of the $’s I laid out for the 5712. And I love this blue dial as well

Well that means the platona might be leaving the stable? I was going to suggest flipping the blue gold sub instead as you now have another blue dial on the rotation and still have another yellow gold on the daydate

Good thoughts. Just doesn’t fit in with my crazy...likes/preference/thought process/rationalization, for my collection
At minimum...don’t need a dress watch, I like to have two YG, one being sporty (so to speak), one SS I’m “less careful” with and one other “really nice” white metal piece...SS, PT, WG, whichever. Within those constraints, I’d like something different to look at when rotating...different bezels, colors, bracelets, etc...

I wear my 5990 as a daily, no problem at all. Yes the bezel now has scratches, but that adds to the charm.

Looks great Richard, and I would have it stay that way so I'd only wear it when you know you can protect it, you have plenty of Rolexes for the harder yards, keep this one special and pristine.

I would probably have a beater rolex for daily and 5712 2-3 days a week. Feel like I would baby it too much.

I wear mine almost daily. As a plus side it does not draw much attention, but as a downside, it will scratch easily.

It should be otherwise you need a winder and the only ones I like are the Patek winders which turn very slowly to protect the rotor.

Seems to me the Nautilus isn't a dress watch - it's a sporty watch, conceived and intended to be worn often, without pomp and circumstance.

So...Do you own it? Do you like it? Then wear it! Wear and enjoy the hell out of your new 5712 - even every effing day if you feel like it! That's what it's for!

It’s a super comfortable SS watch so it’s actually one of the best watches to daily, if you dont mind scratching it here and there

It looks better with scratches. What are you guys saving these watches for?

That certainly does not look better...looks like the owner didn't even take the time to wash off the dust around the case

Agreed - and a very good question that I often ask myself whenever I poke my head into these forums.

What it looks to me is like an owner that can certainly afford the watch and enjoy it with a careless attitude that is refreshing to see... Wearing the watch like it was meant to be.
All this scratch paranoia is ridiculous. People not wearing their watches, saving them for special occasions, covering clasps with 3M clear tape, wearing the watches with stickers on, etc... I am not saying you need to mistreat your watch, but if you wear it and enjoy it, it is going to get scratched, no big deal.
