I do not think anything compares to the Platinum Daytona, so if that is what you want you should get it. Nothing else will satisfy.

I'm a less is more person, so I say go with the Platona. Not to say you'd be compromising quality by going with the 2 gold pieces, but you did say that the Platona is the holy grail.

As someone who traded 3 gold watches (116509 and 2 gold Panerais PAM140 AND PAM185)and added £5k cash to get my Platona-3 years on Ive no regrets. The Platona is another level to the gold pieces IMO-it’s my grail Rolex and I had to have it.

Those commenting about the weight of the Platona-within an hour or so of wear you become used to the weight of the watch and hardly notice it.

Would do two PMs in a heartbeat - Think that you will get much more enjoyment out of it and lets me real ... you are not really compromising on quality in any way shape or form

Agreed, quality first and foremost, all day, every day. I would take a Platona over 5 gold watches. After all, you can only wear one watch at a time.

Quality should be the same regardless the watch and can't really see how that should impact the decision. The question is a preference of metal and the level of utility OP assigns to either platinum or gold

I'd pick the platona over two gold pieces.

If it’s your grail nothing else will do the trick and your should get it. If it were me personally the WG sub and WG BLRO option mentioned would be my pick. I think the Platona is a beautiful watch just not my thing.

I just had the pleasure of trying this on last weekend, and the beauty of this piece is undeniable. I hadn’t seen this dial before, and imo the all ice blue dial with no contrasting subdials is just spectacular, the shade of blue as well as the finishing of the burst are just out of this world. I’m not a diamond guy, but in this case they almost blend in with the blue and create a very impressive effect.

With that said, this thing is heavy, feels 2x heavier than any gold piece I’ve ever tried on from Rolex. I was honestly shocked.

You can’t go wrong either way, and you’ll know what will truly make you satisfied.....I would seriously consider this dial if you end up with the platinum.

I love mine. I have zero regrets about buying mine. It’s my favorite watch by a fair margin

I’m not in the camp of after wearing the Platona for an hour you won’t notice the weight. When I wear mine, I NEVER not notice the weight. But after I wear it and switch to a gold Sub, the gold Sub feels like SS! The Platona is HEAVY, IMHO. So much so, for me, I’ve considered flipping it more than once. That said, it is THE grail Rolex.

That white gold Daytona is absolutely stunning. I love the shimmering dial and the solid black sub-dials.

I would get the Platona with Baguette Dial - or Yellow Gold Daytona Green Dial + WG BLRO Meteorite.

I think that prices on these watches are high because of the rarity of the metal, not the inherent quality. Platinum is soft just like gold. It is more likely to scratch and/or dent than SS.

I would certainly pick a WG Daytona + another PM Rolex over the Platona

Patek is over priced too, between these two I rather have the Platona. And between platona and two gold pieces I take the platona too, it’s more versatile in my opinion.

I would have to go with two gold over one platinum watch. I know that platinum is another level, and feels so different on the wrist, but I would like having two gold watches I could rotate instead of one. YMMV.

2 SS better than 1 gold? It's all perspective really. If you can swing it, go for it, don't settle.

Is a Tesla better or two Toyota’s??
Get what you like more! It’s not by the number of watches, it’s by what makes you happier

All for the platona but if having two golds is something that you’d enjoy more (switch off wearing) then by all means go with two

You are right, 1 Tesla is better than 2 Toyotas... But 1 Tesla is not necessarily better than 2 Teslas

Maybe the better question is 1 Tesla or 1 Platinum Daytona!
