I'm afraid they got rid of your old watch or will lie if you go for a return. This might be a life lesson.

Do you love the watch? If so move on.

You’re a big boy and you made a decision and a deal.

Yes it sucks to pay over retail but a lot of people do it all the time to skip the line and get the watch they want - honestly there’s nothing wrong with that. You paid market value - maybe a bit less.

If you got the watch you want - keep it and enjoy it and chalk it up to experience.

It’s not fair to ask the AD to take it back. Stickers are removed and your name is printed on the warranty card.

When you put it like that it kind of even hurts more. Thinking someone got a 116713LN for $2400 is crazy crazy.

Since it was an AD they purposely didnt give you a receipt because they dont want a traceable way back to them that they are selling way above MSRP.

They may lose their Rolex AD status if word gets out. Thats why most sell to gray dealers directly and let the grays sell to the end customers then share the profit that way. Its less risky.

You made the deal because you obviously wanted the watch. Tell your wife to get over it and move on...maybe go buy her some flowers or something to make up for it

Maybe wifey needs to come shopping with you next time to avoid buyers remorse on bad deals.

I think when you talk to the AD this morning you should thank him for working with you and selling you a very hot watch that you love. This is only going to make a situation where you are feeling, an I emphasis "feeling", some remorse, worse. The remorse is over the money, not the watch. You went home and unloaded on the wife and she can not process the deal or the watch so now you have her on you. You are an adult who knowingly made a deal for a watch, great watch also, live with it. The numbers are not crazy for your trade and the watch you got. Wear it and enjoy it. Disregard the advice of going to Rolex or other action against the AD. This is the Rolex world we live in. If you handle this well with the AD you may actually get on a list for another watch you want and get it delivered. You are now a paying customer not just a tire kicker. Stop with the silliness, check your emotions and move on. And I almost forgot, wear your watch as it is great. Just my thoughts.

This. Double down and get her a Rolex!

I don't think you'll have any luck with the dealer. If you really want to put this behind you perhaps sell it on the open market. Problem is whatever "value" you have in the deal will only get reduced with each transaction.

I once bought an IWC top gun. Hunted for a long time for it. (Discontinued). Found it and bought it from an AD. Couple days later the thrill had gone away. I returned it. However I was charged a restocking fee of like $1,000-$2,000. I think they had to send it back to IWC reissue warranty card I think. Not really sure. But Rolex is a different company. My situation was also different in that I couldn’t have sold that watch and broke even. You can sell this watch if you choose and break even. So its not so bad.

I think we all have made a mistake or two in this crazy watch collecting hobby of ours. Learn from it and move on.

Selling this now your never going to break even. Its now classified as used and go ask a gray dealer what they will pay you for a used BLRO. It wont be $16800 thats for sure.

Selling face to face is headaches you dont want.

New TT GMT - 15,000$ + 10,000$ = 25,000
Used TT GMT ~ 12,000$

New batman = 18,500$

You lost out on 4-7,000$

You paid Market Price for one of the hottest watches in the world right now - no issue here

Your only mistake is spending $16k and not getting your lovely wife something as wel to celebrate the moment; such as a ladies Rolex or even a designer handbag, or a weekend spa for her and her friend - whatever floats her boat. You went in there guns blazing spending $6k without any regard for her

If you came home with something for her she would have been a happy lady, and you would have been a happy guy with an incredibly stunning impossible to get GMT with no regret

Very lucky. Enjoy your two tone GMT, if you don't, I'll give you 2500 USD for it.

If you have some paperwork that says the GMT trade in was $10K then you have a case that the AD sold you a new watch for over retail which in many countries is verboten, I'd go back to the AD and ask for the return, then say you'll go to Rolex with this overselling practice if they won't take it back.

Edit - I see he will take it back, which means he can now legit sell it used for a sky high premium, such a bad system all round.

I’d feel like a sucker paying over retail and getting so little for my trade piece. I won’t pay over retail for anything.

I think it is embarrassing to return it. A man does not go back on his word where I come from, with all due respect.

Definitely a learning experience, I’m sure many dealers have these watches in stock in the back reserved for the right situation.

If the watch itself if the sourse of the remorse, return it

If the cost is the source of the problem, keep it. You won't worry about how much you paid for it a year down the road.

Awesome! Hopefully you can get your trade back, he'll tear up the check and you can move on.

Lesson learned. Impulse buying = bad.

Everyone has their own pain point. For some of us, its an arbitrary number like $10K. For others, it's $100K. For the average American, it's probably $100.

It still may be a good idea to get the wife something, even if it's as small as a bunch of flowers you'll still earn points and you can show her that you listen to her (even if you did forget to include her in the initial decision).

Wait a minute aren’t BLROs NIB going for 18.-19.5k? He sold you the watch for 16.8 that’s cheaper than grey for sure! And TT gmts are really selling for what 8.5-9.5k. I honestly don’t think the deal was that bad. I think at best you lost 3k in the grey market. Plus you have your name on the card!

You got a brand new BLRO for $3,000 below current market price straight from an AD with your name on the card (legitimately).

the trade price you got for the TT GMT was maybe a little low but we don't know age or condition. You'd have got more in a private sale, but not anywhere near $3,000 more.

On a market price basis you got a good deal.

Perhaps explain that to your wife, man up a bit about the remorse and enjoy what is arguably the most sought after Rolex watch of 2019 (and, more importantly, a fantastic reference)

If your AD has any concerns about reselling the watch since the warranty card is filled out, I'll pay him retail for it as is.
