Thanks for all of the responses.

There are a few "never selling" watches in my collection:
1.) 16710 - my 1st Rolex, and it's going to my 1st son when he's old enough
2.) Reverso - my wedding watch
3.) Ball - watch has my pilot wings and my name on it, plus it was a surprise Christmas gift from the wife

The Hulk is NEARLY untouchable, as our 2nd son gets a Rolex as well and I do love that watch, but you just never know with these prices...

I thought the GS and DD40 were keepers (and they just might be!), but seeing that AP got swooning. Definitely a tough call - but I am going to see what the dealer thinks about trade values. Doesn't hurt to ask...does it?? :-|

I would for these reasons; Royal Oak bracelet, finishing, and brand diversity

Hmm

16710

As much as I like the AP, your current Rolex collection is actually pretty diverse and I would be hard pressed to make any exchange. The GS and the Omega are probably the only ones I would trade barring any sentimental value.

Haha. Sound advice I’m going to start following.

I love your DD and its dial; without a doubt, a keeper.

Oh that’s a tough one. The Royal Oak is hard to resist. But hard to go preowned with AP. Read the sticky at the AP discussion board

Good advice. I have stopped browsing the for sale section myself.

Thanks for this. It makes me second-guess AP. How can such an expensive watch have such unreliability (so it seems)?

If you’re going gold I highly recommend the RO chronograph. Adds up a whole new dimension to an otherwise spectacularly finished watch.

Sure but go in eyes open about how easy it will be to damage the finish on the AP. I wear my 15500st with slight anxiety around my kid and can’t imagine I’d even bother strapping it on in gold.

Keep and and get AP RO RG w/ blue dial 41mm......Honestly its a f'n amazing watch...the aesthetics check all the boxes. The DD is another beast as well, hard to part with..

I agree with this. Move the GS and Omega if you need to and add cash!

So after getting the watch box out and trying on the GS and DD40 again (the Speedy is still getting the bracelet fixed), I've decided that I can't part with 3 for 1.

While the AP is drop dead gorgeous, these 3 are no slackers either. Pictures don't do the GS justice, and the dial of the DD40 is amazing - I love the deconstructed Romans. Now when I pickup my Speedy, I just have to stay away from trying that AP on...

You made the right choice. I would think you would have regretted doing that.

Trade the speedy and GS then front the rest in cash or trade your car. :)
