How many threads annually are there on this topic? It’s got to be at least 3/month, maybe higher. I think this dead horse has been beaten.

Getting worked up about Rolex nicknames is pretty silly IMO. So many other things in life to focus attention on . . .

I'm 44 and use them and all the ADs I frequent are familiar with them.

I use Hulk. I dont use batgirl, batman, or the multitude of others that people try to make stick

smurf is fine.

Batgirl makes zero sense. Ive said it before, but if you are going with the batman theme, then the jubilee is the bruce wayne. He always wears a suit and the jubilee is fancier. At least that makes sense. Two identical watches with just a different bracelet. Its the same but different. Bruce wayne and batman... same but different

Hulk, smurf are self explanatory. ones you have to explain to people defeats the purpose of a nickname as its supposed to be descriptive

The important thing was that I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. I didn't have any white onions, because of the war. I like to call the full rose gold GMT Master II, 'Groot' after the tree from GOTG. G for gold, and Root from Root Beer.

Also, the rainbow Daytona would sound cooler as Thanos? Or the infinity gauntlet? Since the stones could represent the infinity stones. With the price that it's going for, Thanos is way cooler than just rainbow Daytona.

Oh, I am 84 years old. No, not really.

Why am I excluded from this poll?

The original Pepsi 6542 was also called the Pussy Galore. And that was 55 years ago.

I hope that fact makes the OP’s head explode. These whining threads about nicknames are more immature than anything anyone could call a watch.

For good measure, I’ll just casually toss the word MOIST in here for no other reason that to add to the pearl clutching.

I'm in my 30s and also don't like or use the nicknames. But I guess I'm an old man cause when I use the reference number at an AD and they say something like, "oh, you mean the hulk/batman/etc" I don't get any enjoyment only irritation.

I'm 55, but act like I'm 12. After all, you've read my posts! But....

I don't really care, to each his own. But, and I try to be honest with people and myself: sure, I've used Pepsi, Coke, Hulk and probably will do so in the future.

However: SMURF, KERMIT and BATGIRL are not only on the fringe of degrading, they're Godamn stupid.

You asked right?

It’s the one thing that puts me off owning a Rolex. The fear that one day someone will shout “hey, look, that guy is wearing a Batman”

For those who refer to Rolex watches mainly by nicknames

No Choice for ~ Don't use Stupid Nicknames.

Only You Can Stop the Spread Of Stupid Nicknames for Beautiful Watches!

Just Say NO to "batgirl"!

Whenever you see the Proper Name: 126710BLNR with Jubilee Bracelet referred to as batgirl simple repost and add the proper name and this picture of batgirl!

I've got four Rolex watches at present. I can tell you the reference of my Hulk because it's my grail watch, which I researched at great length and got to know everything about it that I possibly could. I can tell you the reference of my Blusey because it's so close to the LV in nomenclature. I have no idea what the reference of my Polar is, or my Z-Blue. I wouldn't know the reference of the Sky Dweller or TT CHNR I have on order if they knocked me down in the street. I don't need to. It's not important. And I've got better things to remember.

I fall into the oldest group in the poll, who appear to be the worst offenders. Maybe this cohort has finally gained enough wisdom to know what's really important in life and what is static. Or maybe our memories are going. Sorry, what was the question?
