Dont think you are alone in that regard...there are quite a few other too but each to their own I suppose.

+ 1. Sorry to all of the fans. I have desired the WG OF 116519 for a while and recently tried one on that was already sold at my AD...wears a bit too small, IMHO.

no flame!!

a) the polished surfaces are subjective. i don’t find it insanely flashy or shiny, but clearly YMMV.
b) ceramic can be brittle, but lord it’s an improvement IMHO on the scratch-magnet polished bezels of precious models (which were also shinier, to my eyes).
c) it is fairly small in comparison to other models and to other brands.
d) i’ve been confused by this whole legibility question. a lot of folks have this issue, and i just don’t understand it myself. i find it easier to read than some of my other watches, but again i find this subjective.

e) this is an issue for me, but i’m not flaming. when i discovered the daytona in 1998, i had no idea that Newman had ever worn one, that it was hard to acquire in steel (even then!), or that it had a crazy cult following. a lot of folks these days are putting emphasis on the newman connection or that folks are just buying them because of their secondary value; i just bought my first because i truly, deeply love it. and i will buy more, because i clearly am mad for it.

again, this is completely subjective and there’s no problem with any of us feeling the way we do. in fact it makes collecting super interesting IMO. it is possible to debate and disagree without flame suits being necessary!

but lordy that air king is just atrocious and i could never be bothered to consider owning one. i find it gross, difficult to read, and although i like the green bit of color on the dial, it just drives me nuts.

it’s so interesting to see people that collect the same brand but are so highly polarized.

1. Modern GMT LN. Looks terrible in person, on my wrist at least.
2. OPs, other than black and white which I absolutely love
3. Anything worth 30k on Oysterflex. No thank you, rubber strap for 30k+.
4. 116660 wayyyy to big. Wears and looks awful on the wrist, even though it is a very cool watch.
5. Anything TT, with exception of bluesy and champagne jubilee flutted DJ41 which are fantastic!
6. Smooth bezel datejust actual hurts my eyes. It is my least favorite watch variation possible in the Rolex lineup. Looks unbearably boring on oyster and incomplete on jubilee.

Never been a fan of the standard YM series - just too small and dainty and feminine for me. I actually love the YMII. The YM42 is a step in the right direction

This is a common thought.

When I first saw the 'new' Sub years ago I was truly appalled. I thought it looked awful compared to the classic 5 digit and I would have agreed with you.

It took me quite some time to come to terms with what they did to it, however now that I own one and have become familiar with it my attitude has changed. Now to me the 5 digit looks weedy and feels fragile.

The 6 digit may not be very photogenic, the lugs appear large in pictures but when the watch is wrapped around a wrist they seem less pronounced and blend in just fine. I guess it was designed to be worn rather than have pictures taken.
Rolex got it just right.

i dont care for any thing in the six digit serial but i suppose its a tie between the air king and milgauss. there is nothing redeemable about those models to me.

All watches with the maxi case. Just can’t get past it. No functional purpose other than to increase the wrist presence. In my mind increasing the wrist presence only has one purpose and that’s to add to the hey look at me factor. It also looks unbalanced and out of proportion.

Wanted to love the AK 116900 but sold it within days. Also not a fan of anything on Oysterflex.

YMII, Airking, Milgauss

I would add Batgirl to the addition, no wonder prices tanked.

Not much new to add here. I have a hard time embracing the AK -- the different colors and fonts on the dial just don't work me. I tend to embrace whimsical dials but this one just looks like a confused mess in my opinion.

I think a lot more of us would be willing to embrace YMII if the bezel didn't say "YACHT-MASTER II" on the bottom third of the bezel. That's the real deal killer for me. If it weren't for that, I think you'd have more people here promoting the watch as a niche piece with a very different complication.

Not trying to generalize here either -- I know both of these references a have a lot of fans on TRF and elsewhere.
