The 116520 since it was the first of the new movement based 6 digits that are all the craze today and that was back in the early 2000's when it started. Especially now that there is so much attention on the Ceramics, I think the SS bezels will have a resurgence of sort once the market realizes "Ceramic Fatigue" and that the 116500s were really just a bezel and sub-dial ring update.

i agree with everyone who said the sky dweller. it's such a unique idea for rolex. Not really as "attainable" as other SS models in terms of price but that might just bump up the mystique.

The ability to hack the time and extended power reserve at least for me was a real functional improvement.

Is it "post year 2000" though? Sure, it remained in production in the 2000's, but hasn't changed much after the tritium dials gave way to luminova and the no holes case were introduced

I would vote for the Sky Dweller because it's the engineering pinnacle of Rolex in the modern era. Not a classic today - but a future classic for sure.

It’s already here, the no holes case, SEL, superluninova, 2004 onwards 16710 GMT.

The pinnacle of design excellence and evolution of the 5 digit GMT before production ceased for the new 6 digit ceramics.

It doesn’t get much more classic than that.

Already here and climbing > The latest and greatest of 5 digit Gmts. 2004 up 16710s. Late bloomer > The Sd4k, short run, last of the all in one (old and new) Seadwellers

I may be biased, but I think the 126711 Rootbeer will go on to become a classic.

Original Oyster Batman, 116520 white dial, either first series with thin hands or last series, scrambled. Definitely Zenith Daytona’s.

To the OP, the 36mm Explorer will increase but not compared to the ones above.
While a nice piece, the Explorer will never be a Daytona in terms of future appreciation IMO.
I’d be surprised if the Airking or white/orange Milgauss will become collectible in the next twenty years.

Agree.

Witness the sub, in all it's carnations, from beginning to present.

And of course, the GMT, in all its different outfits, color cordinated and noir.

Who's to say that mechanical watches will be relevant 20 years from now?
