I would pass. That's a lot of money to spend on something I'm not really crazy about.
I don't think I have FOMO. |

I bought both. Black came first. AD knew I still wanted a white. Sadly it wasn’t possible to know which would look nicer in person. Had never laid eyes on either until buying them. If I was to wear one daily I would go black....but would be a tough choice as they each have their own strengths.
In pictures the white has more clarity and is easier to read. On the wrist it’s a tie. The RG Daytona looks hard to read in pictures but is the most legible Daytona I have seen with my eyes. Maybe a YG with black dial would be clearer, but the RG is pretty crisp for such a busy dial.

It'd be really hard to pass .. I'm contemplating my third Rolex and was thinking need a white dial ( exp & sub ). Daytona came to mind as a great 3rd piece in white
Chances of getting one from AD are slim to none Guess if they called with a black I'd bite Lol. |

I will admit that the black is a slight bit nicer than the white. The white is more sporty, black more classy in my opinion. It just depends on what you want. Just be aware that the black dial is harder to read quickly depending on lighting and angle. Good luck! |

As you can see from my signature I own a Kermit, a black 15500ST and a SD43. None of these models were my number one at the time of purchase however in today's crazy market I decided to adopt an opportunistic approach. So far I love all 3 watches. Would I exchange my black AP for a blue one or the SD43 for GMT if I get the chance? Sure! However I have not been offered these watches from my ADs and I am not about to spend 1.5-2 the prices in the grey market. Going back to your question, I might prefer the white dial daytona but if I was offered the black one in this day and age i would take it and enjoy the hell out of it.

I’d Pass.... but I’m in a similar predicament with the GMT prospects ... i really feel I want the BLNR, but if I got the call for a BLRO..... that would be a tough one to pass on..

I just got the BLNR, it’s a stunner and much more toned down than the BLRO.

Pass if I trusted the AD would be able to get the one I want within a reasonable time, if not then I'd take it.

Black dial was offered and I passed.
A couple weeks later, I got the white. |

It took me approximately 3 years to receive my white dial Daytona. I was offered black almost every 8 months until finally the white arrived.
It’s a hard wait but I’m happy I waited and picked up the white dial. At this time, while the black dial is nice, I have no desire to buy one. |

If you purchase it and returned it back to Rolex within 3 months of purchasing it from your AD, they will change the dial.
But anything longer than 3 months and they will also charge you for a service.

I got a call from my AD in the fall of 2016 and turned down the black dial. At this point I would turn down the white or black dial as the Daytona is no longer for me.

I don't think there's a wrong choice here, and I've had both.
I would prefer (ever so slightly) the black, but that's really more of a function of what's in the collection right now. But, if in the market for a Daytona, I certainly wouldn't turn up my nose at a white one, if offered. My two cents, YMMV. |

Why in the world would you spend $12K++ on something you don't want?

For sure I would pass, the wait may be long but once you get what you wanted you will be happy you waited. I would hold on a little longer
