I’m glad you seem calm about this but would be a big deal to me. Not acceptable at all, assume they will make it right

Before and after pictures are needed, otherwise this is an internet flame.

That’s where the AD sent it. Apparently it’s a RSC and I’ve read somewhere that they also take care of overflow work for NY-RSC

Find a talented Independent, and have all your work done after a face to face with the watchmaker. Rolex is in the business of selling watches, and gouging owners on service.

It will look like new again, but you shouldn't have to deal with this nonsense.

Surely not acceptable. Let them handle it and make your watch like new.

Both clasp and case har hairlines on the same side, looks like marks from wear. Sure you didn't cause it by wearing a "contaminated" sweater or shirt that rubbed against the watch?

Happened to me also on the back of the case, the only offered solution was to send watch back for a polish.

No thanks. I've since sold the watch and this happened last year, so my ire has lessened.

When people return goods back to RSC for something they were at fault for, I assume they don't cover return shipping? That would be the most frustrating part of this. Another $70 (or whatever it costs) in shipping plus additional wait time.

Seems like this mishaps happen more in the US RSC than any other RSC around the globe.

These kind of threads make me sick.

I'll be 100% honest. Dealing with RSC's and authorized service centers of other brands have totally destroyed my watch passion.

Every time that a service is scheduled or something unexpected happens, i feel sick to my stomach for what i'll have to deal in the near future.

3 out of 4 times dealing with services, i faced situations like yours.

The truly sad part is when they are trying to appear you as fool and that the scratches/damages were already there before you bring your watch to them.

In order to keep calm and not ridicule myself from my nerves, i take full HD video of my watches in daylight before i leave them to service center and i mention to them that i already have the video and 1.000 pics of the watch uploaded in the watch forums with dates prior to that day.

I really want to apologize in advance from the good technicians and watchmakers that make perfect work and deliver the watches in perfect aesthetic condition but the majority of them don't give a sh*t about the aesthetic condition of our watches.

That is horrific. This is one of the reasons I will only have my watches serviced when necessary.

I ended up taking it into a Rolex authorized repair center that I’ve worked with before and should have it back within a week vs waiting for the holidays to be over and than I’m away for work and dealing with RSC, having the watch sent out and being without for a few more weeks.

PanosI - that’s great advice on a full video and pictures prior to having anything done.

Again it’s disappointing but there’s definitely great watchmakers and professionals out there. I myself have worked as a service tech in Power plants, Oil and Gas etc. and you have great technicians and you have hacks who don’t care about the end result as long as it worked while they were there +5 minutes. Taillight warranty.

If this can happen to the outside of a watch I shudder to think of the mistakes they may make on the actual movement service. Mistakes that may not become apparent for years...

Somewhere along the line I think many of you get confused as to what is an RSC, owned by Rolex USA, and a “service center” individually owned. If you look in your warranty service manual, comes with watch, it lists only two in the USA. One in NYC and Dallas. Now of course there exceptions; notably Rolex boutiques, privately owned, but authorized by Rolex to sell watches with Rolex USA warranty. In Las Vegas Rolex in Wynn’s has their Rolex trained watchmaker. He is authorized by Rolex to service all mechanical watches. The exception to this is Oysterquartz, Rolex wants to service them in Dallas or NYC. The other is vintage, why, availability of parts. Look in your service booklet, it will tell you.

Can anyone other than a RSC perform a warranty repair?
