Yep. TAGs were the watch in the 80’s. Only day traders and used car salesmen wore Rolexes

Seiko sports 100 digital.
It was really good while it lasted but it's long gone to heaven now.
I think it was left somewhere in the Middle east if my memory serves me correctly
It was first and last digital/quartz watch as a contempory thing back in the day

IWC pilot Chrono, vintage omega speedmaster, JLC master geographic, omega speedmaster automatic, Rolex submariner ... In that order.

Next would like either BLRO, WG day-date green dial vs meteorite dial, or WG Daytona. Perhaps panerai 513 (rose gold radiomir with brown dial), love the cost and look but not sure want bling of rose yet.

In 1969 my first good watch was a Tissot PR-516 with a 24 hr dial. $100. This picture is someone else's off ebay. One year later I bought my 5513 in Europe. I gave it to my brother. He scratched the crystal and gave it to an unknown jeweler who incorrectly mount a new crystal. He went to Hawaii and it got destroyed by salt water. I'm still fascinated by the dial and wish I could find another nice one.

I had a quartz Bulova chrono I bought when I was 14. Dreamt of nicer watches until I could afford one.

I know right? Oyster bracelets are such a blessing for my wrist, so robust yet comfortable at the same time.

This is crazy. I had this one and then another which was a blue plastic case. Last one was a full lume face from mid 90s. These were fantastic watches.

A combination of Timex Expeditions for years, then made a huge leap forward to Citizen Eco-drive ........................... which I perceived as an expensive high-end watch !

my history

1970's

1st Timex
2nd Sekonda (made in the USSR)
3rd Marcey Digital watch

1990s onwards
(saw me owning)

2 x sekonda
2 x timex
1 x Ted Baker

2000 onwards
(my knowledge of watches grew as did my understanding of my error of my ways)

A steep learning curve, this found me buying and selling silver pocket watches and Avia wrist watches to fund my first Rolex, one thing I have learnt is you can spend a fortune on deposable watches that wont stand the test of time... Buy quality and they will last a life time.

There have been many over the years, the last two were a Longines Hydroconquest and an Omega Constellation. Both different enough to hang on to.

Bulova, Timex, several Seikos, Citizen, etc. The last before the two Rolex's was a Tag Formula 1 chrono, which I still wear occasionally.

My first nice watch was a Baume Mercier hand wound 18k square tank case on a brown leather strap, very thin dress watch. I wore suits every day for work. It was nice at the time. My first Rolex, a TT Date came a few years later.

I can still remember how crazy it felt to have spent two grand on a watch. Simpler times :)

My very first watch was a Timex... then graduated to Seiko Quartz (still have it) then Tag S/el (couple over the years, still have one quartz chrono) then on to Rolex...
