What is your most "storied" watch.
Companion in 7 decades...seen it, done it, still ticking. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I tried to sell my Cellini on Ebay, got ripped off by a watch thief ring out of California.....Wound up getting full price back from insurance which was about 3 grand over what I was asking on Ebay.

I'm almost ashamed to say the watch I have owned the longest is an old military issue marathon navigator I bought at a PX in the 1990's.
All my luxury watches come and go in time, but that old navigator has gotten all the dirty work and has been back for a spa with them a few times too. It's been to sea on submarines, been flown in countless chinooks, been beat to hell with spent 5.56 rounds, and been all over the world on vacations and work trips. I basically wear it when I dont want a nicer watch to be abused, yet I cant imagine ever parting with the damn thing. Go figure. |

I have a Speedmaster and we all know the history of that model watch. Mine is a co-axial 44.25mm model that's a modern take on the original.
But my other watch is the 16710 BLRO GMT Master II. Quite the history with that model. Nothing particularly storied about mine, but the GMT Master has quite a history. Developed in the early 1950s with the input of the international pilots for Pan Am Airlines, it originally came with a Bakelite bezel insert. Many updates over the decades, material changes, movement updates/upgrades, and it's still being offered by Rolex. It also has some space pedigree, although not nearly as much as the Omega Speedmaster. My first exposure to the BLRO was watching Magnum PI in the 1980s. Selleck started wearing it about half way into the show. He continued to wear it as Jesse Stone in a bunch of movies and even wore it on Blue Bloods. Chuck Yeager wore it while flying some noteworthy aircraft, and Ed Mitchell wore it during the Apollo 14 mission.
