Everyone talks about the LV being discontinued, what if the 114060 gets pulled.

Something odd about this thread. The OP is happy to wear a Pepsi around town every day but they won't wear a Hulk because they're worried about it being stolen? Are these Rolex thieves really that picky over specific models?

I would if you don’t wear it. The numbers aren’t terrible esp since you get the newer watch.
Otherwise if you love it get it insured properly and wear regularly. I do this and am just a bit careful about showing too much in public places. |

Advice - Hulk swap for 114060
Quote:
Haha. Yeah very odd. I have never said it was just about theft but that is a factor. Maybe I am Overthinking it! I paid a lot more for the hulk. Thanks for your thoughts. |

The LVc does nothing for me so if I had one I would sell it. The Sub however is a very good looking watch. Only a short time ago the LVc were not very popular - they are just so green that there is a limited appeal compared to the classic black Sub that goes with everything. Then along came the fashion hype and suddenly they are ‘the watch to have’. Give it another couple of years and they will probably go back to their previous popularity.
As this is primarily a forum for watch enthusiasts rather than one for investment portfolio advice, I say you should own the watch you will enjoy wearing the most. Dependant on what happens at Basel the value of the LVc compared to the Sub could go either way but right now there is a substantial financial benefit to you anyway. |

I would not do that trade. Unless you wouldn’t miss the watch and could do with the extra cash

Both are great watches but the Hulk is special and not easy to replace unless you go grey.
I would use the time between now and Basel to wear and enjoy the Hulk. See what is released at Basel, what is cancelled and go from there. Your Hulk will not be worth less after Basel and it maybe worth significantly more. There could also be a watch that you fancy more than the ND Submariner introduced and the Hulk would give you more trade power to get that watch. Sit tight for a couple of months. |

Sounds like it would end in regret.

On all fronts I disagree with your rational, but I understand it. If you love the watch wear it. It’s a tank, Value will be fine. If you simply can’t, sell it but wait till Basel as you never know.
IMO, don’t get a 114060. I’ve owned it and really disliked it. The “classic” sub magic dust wore off in a month and I flipped for a SubC Date. Been happy for years. |

Depends on you. You said you’re not wearing your Hulk due to the risk of damaging it and hurting its value. Well, bad news for you, it’s value is only going to keep going up. Why would you trade it off when there is so much talk of discontinuing it? Will definitely go higher than any No Date SubC will. That being the case why do you own the watch? For its investment potential or because you like wearing watches? If it’s for investment potential you’re tying up money in the wrong places. There are far better investments than watches. If you truly like wearing watches, then trade and get something you’ll actually wear. But know this, that hulk is worth roughly $13-14k right now. If they discontinue it prices will instantly go over $15k and who knows by Christmas. A No Date Sub is not hard to get at an AD if you know where to look or can be picked up on the secondary market for around 8k-8500. My personal opinion, keep the Hulk and just go buy a No Date if you truly want one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Those two look great together. Personally I would keep the LV, but if you think you're going to wear the ND more, it kind of makes sense.

There's always going to be speculations on discontinuations, model changes, market values etc. These two are both good pieces that will hold their own no matter the changes. Apparently you have your reasons on considering a trade. The numbers sound fair and it's about as clean and easy of a deal as you can get. Trying not to be biased as I'm a Sub fan and own the 114060, you have to ask yourself which would you wear and enjoy more.

I mean, date is really the only difference. But it gave the watch a different dynamic that I found more interesting. I do appreciate <=5dig ND Subs but for modern, I just think the date version suits the reference much better. Of course this is just a personal opinion. |

Trade it. The green gets tiring after a few years. I had 2...
