great great work. I've been really impressed with some of the examples of laser welding/sympathetic restorations I've seen out there.

For anyone thinking about getting this work done, I want to give a shout out to Mike at Rolliworks. Great guy and amazing service. I had a pretty stretched out rivet bracelet from the 1960s and Mike at Rolliworks did some black magic to it and it looks good as new.

Yes. Michael Young.

He started with bracelets. And i know for a fact he does cases. WG for sure. Not sure if he does SS. But i think he does also since he does TT and SS bracelets as well.

I suppose whatever practical application of laser welding to watches and jewelry, he could do.

Bas, how long does a job like that take for you to do?
Laser welding was about 5minutes, case took about an hour and a half to refinish.

Several different lapping disks, metal(tin) lapping disks for high shine polishing without any soft edges, a complex case holder which you can adjust in more angles, etc. The setup that LAWW uses is about as perfect as you can go.
Sadly Rolex doesn't want to go this far for after sales.

Probably sooner than later, Rolex supplies the wire for all their alloys for those who have the laser machine.

Question - if this was sent to RSC how would they handle a ding like that as I understand they don’t do laser welding. Would they polish it down so much to remove the ding but also ruin the lugs?

Yea me neither. I was picturing some laser pointer contraption. That looks like a microscope from the a lab. Very cool. Great work!

THAT is a nice case refinishing! You really nailed the chamfers on the 4 line. I see them overdone from time to time when really they were just softening the top line edge of the case by then.

curiously, what is the greatest amount of laser welding to a case you have done?
