I have always felt like a Day Date is the perfect one and done watch. It has the only complications you would need ( Day and Date) and even though it is considered a dress watch I think it looks great with jeans and a shirt. My only problem is the precious metal aspect of it. If they ever made a Day Date in stainless steel I would be all over that.

Surprising responses, and ones I agree with. Go for it.

Good plan. Now do it and post the photo at a suitable time.

It's just all about health, happiness & family. The rest are just necessary inconvenience we have to deal with.

Why not baguettes? Seems like the only option in my eyes

They are 2 completely different watches, one is sportive with a little touch of elegance, the other is a dress watch (particularly in YG with Champagne dial).
I personally prefer to get the GMT function rather than the day function; anyway if you would like to make the economic upgrade, I wold rather suggest to look at WG with Olive Green, Blue or Rhodium Stripe dial).

The DD could be the ultimate exit watch. I’d do it but would have to have a SS sport piece to rotate.

Ya I’d do it and did to get my first day date
I wear it 3x a week and surprisingly it flys under the radar maybe I’ve gotten 1-2 comments per year on it

This thread was exactly what I was looking for. I’m in a similar boat, but I’m looking to trade my blnr jubilee for a 36mm 118238 white dial with sticks.

This might be a dumb question but when you all say trade in for it, are you saying try to make a deal with a gray or AD that has what you’re looking for in the dd? I assume that it would take the blnr plus cash to trade up for a dd?

I wouldn't really say that the DD is strictly a dress watch. In WG or PT from a few feet way it could be any other model Rolex makes. And in YG it is more subdued than a YG sub. I think of a dress watch as something slim on a leather strap.

I would not hesitate trading in the BLNR + cash for a Day Date. That will never be a regrettable transaction for me. Go for it!

Is this a watch you will wear every day with dressy and casual clothes? Or will it be more of a dress-type watch to wear to work? If you want yellow gold and a traditional look then nothing pops like that white dial. One of the other dials blends in a little more.

If you are up for something a little more funky and casual looking then the rose gold, green dial is a winner. For me, the YG white dial screams "dressy" so I would prefer the rose gold, green dial or another DD that looks a little less traditional.

Its up to you, though. You still wouldn't go wrong buying the YG white dial and wearing it in every situation!

Agree with this comment here about the white dial...which I love. One thing to consider is how it looks on you (if that’s even possible...dubious at this point). I tried the YG white dial on. The SA said it looked stark in certain settings. He told me to walk outside in sunlight and look at it compared to the store. I did, and found it to be more “stark” than I’d preferred. Also, I ended up going with RG because I liked the look.
