Thanks for the pics, Jason. Venice is one of my favorite cities in the world. Been there half a dozen times and always find something new there. Just wandering through the calles and campos is a joy.
Thanks for the memories.

Thanks for all your replies. This was my 2nd trip to Italy, and I loved it so much more this time. It was good last time, but it was FANTASTIC this time.

That's awesome...been to Murano a few times but never allowed to try to blow the glass...you're a lucky man!
I'm really interested in seeing the new WG Sub in person. Your shots seemed to darken the blue some and it didn't seem too bad...actually looked pretty stunning. Thanks for sharing. |

Actually, the WG Sub is absolutely marvelous. The blue ceramic bezel changes colors based on the lighting. It is truly a stunning piece. I wish I had the coin to pick one up. It is my grail of grails.

Italy is always a great destination for a trip! Siena is one of the best preserved medieval cities. And Venice is really amazing!

While we were in Venice, there were at least 2 weddings somewhere in the vicinity of Piazza San Marco. The bride/grooms were outside in front of Basilica di San Marco having their photos taken. A Fabulous back-drop

Nah...I think you have to be in the right place. I got a kick out of the white chandelier you provided a picture of because the friends we were traveling with bought that exact chandelier in addition to 2 others that were made for their new home. They spent over $65K in glass at one shop alone...while the owners were very nice and let us tour everything, they certainly didn't offer to let anyone in our party blow. Then again, maybe you're talking about an entry price starting over $65K.

This was last summer and the credit crunch/housing bubble was just starting to really show its effect in the U.S. In talking to many store owners around Murano they all said the same thing about American tourist dollars...that being that they weren't getting ANY business. At the time the exchange rate was at a close to all time recent high, so I'm sure that wasn't helping matters either. We pretty much picked the worse time to travel (but it was for a wedding, so didn't have an option). For the white chandelier you showed (it looks about the same size) I think they spent around $10-12K. Needless to say, I'm not going to share with them your price as I don't want to depress them (then again, I don't think it will really matter to them...must be nice ). This was the same guy that bought my LV off me at lunch because he really liked the green bezel. Had no idea about Subs, but liked green. |

It honestly was the most expensive/nicest display that I have ever seen. I mean, I cannot imagine how much money they had tied-up just in their windows.......much less the inside of the store. Now, Grand Cayman has a rather impressive Rolex AD. I am not sure which of these two had more inventory though.
