Let me know if you ever want to explore that “big hole” to the North of you.
Hey Ralph, absolutely I will take you up on that offer. I need to meet some collectors around here.

Glad to see you got the move accomplished, Phillip. Welcome! I think you'll be very popular here. Texas's loss is our gain.

Actually scorpions are a more common threat than rattlers. Especially if your in a newer residential area that used to be desert.

I know the Bark Scorpion can be pretty bad, but most the scorpions aren’t too bad unless of course you have an allergic reaction to the sting. I’d rather get bit by a scorpion than a rattlesnake, but do agree your more apt to get bit by a scorpion than a rattlesnake.

Good to know, I HATE scorpions!! I believe the fear came from that movie "Honey I shrunk the kids."

Yup. Bark scorpions survived all that nuclear testing out there back in the day, with virtually no adverse effects. What does that tell you? Tough (and deadly) lil' buggers.

Best to stay indoors and work on watches!

Hope you enjoy it; I lived in Tempe/Scottsdale/Mesa for many years before coming out to the East Coast a few months ago. You'll probably find that the best watch retailers are in Scottsdale and mid-north phoenix, but overall there is a great collector community out there, hope you enjoy it!

P.S. If you're a foodie and ever want a good seafood restaurant in the desert I recommend Salt Cellar on Hayden Rd. ...After covid, of course. :)

Thank you and I will definitely check out Salt Cellar when things calm down a bit.

My family and I have to moved to Arizona to start a new chapter in our life. I have spoken with several collectors out here and hope to meet many more through local watch gatherings.

We are living east of Phoenix, in Mesa and are fully moved in and operational.

I appreciate everyone on this forum and hope all stay safe during these abnormal times.
Congrats on the move.

Glad it all went smoothly.

Congrats on the move. Just moved from AZ about 2 years back. Miss the sun and heat, and AZ car auction week every January.

First, I commend Phillip for his decision to move to AZ. It is what people do for the people they love.
Secondly, I am still with Watchmakers International for as long as Bob will have me! We recently launched our new website and are working with an engineer on making the North Texas Watch Get together an online presence.

Bob is busying at the bench. After all the years as a watchmaker, he still enjoys restoring the Vintage Rolex & Patek watches entrusted to his care.
In regards to my time in AZ, I owned a commercial observatory whereby astronomers could remotely control the various telescopes for CCD imaging. Using a 33” and a 24” Dobsonian and smaller computerized telescopes, Star Parties were offered to the general public and schools.
I have attached a photo of the Dobs in my backyard. As an aside, this is the 25th anniversary of the APOD website. I encourage everyone to take a moment and marvel at the beautiful photos of our universe taken by amateur and professional astronomers around the world. Enjoy!
