Thanks! Enjoy yours also!

Never thought I would be a two-tone Rolesor or an Eversose Rose gold fan, but I am very pleasantly pleased by this Rootbeer CHNR. It itches my watch urge (for now) and truly is a fantastic piece.

Thank you! I recall messaging with you a month or two back and appreciate the help along the way. While your AD didn't have what I wanted, I do very much thank you for the link. Rootbeer Cheers!

I have often wondered how much loyalty really means to these ADs

I have 3 within 15 min of me but I have stuck to one and often wonder if I’m missing out on awesome watches because of it.

Congrats! That watch is on my list

I have also wondered on 'loyalty' with respect to Rolex watches.

My thoughts:

"Loyalty" & "Relationships" -
I find both do matter in the jewelry business!

Over the past 20 years, my wife and I have primarily been loyal to two jewelers. One specifically who specialized in diamonds (doesn't sell watches) and one for everything else (also a Rolex AD). Both are very strong relationships for 15-20 yrs +. I trust both to give me a very fair price on jewelry, without hassle, based on our past buying history. We are not top spenders nor bottom spenders. A healthy middle spend, which these jewelers respect.

"The Rolex Factor"
Inventory blocks relationship history and top spenders take priority for Rolex timepieces.

If the AD doesn't have the inventory on a hot watch, they cannot provide you the watch regardless of relationship/loyalty. The buyer then gets impatient and can feel a loss of some loyalty. If the AD does have allocation for that watch, you need to be a top buyer/relationship with the AD. IE. I think of six figure spend and those who don't flinch when purchasing multiple PM pieces, etc. My guess is that most Rolex buyers are people who have saved hard for their first or next single SS watch purchase.

"My Results"
While we have several watches, we only have a few Rolex watches in our household.

Two sourced via two different Rolex ADs after losing faith that the primary jeweler had the ability to deliver the watch we wanted in the timeframe desired. These two were sourced by contacting dozens of ADs (phone, email, in person visit) and eventually finding one who had what we wanted. No purchase history with either. Prior ADs where we purchased past Rolex watches, did not come through a second time.

One sourced via our jeweler who specialized in diamonds only, through a contact they had in the business. In this case, the loyal relationship came through, just not through the normal means one would expect. Soft of a VIP favor, so-to-speak. As a result, I also went back for an additional 'diamond' jewelry item later. Win win.

My Realization

I've come to realize that Rolex inventory severely limits what my loyal jeweler who sells Rolex can provide AND that I'm not a top tier spender so my relationship only goes so far for those hard to get allocation timepieces.

As a result, I've found hard work and perseverence can go further than loyalty AND that you can build a new relationship from an AD with no purchase history if you put the effort into it. While that AD may or may not be able to get me my next Rolex, I will certainly go back and ask them when ready.

My 2 cents.

Very interesting insight and almost exactly what I was thinking would be the case.

I kinda feel like spending and waiting and spending and waiting just at one single place only could bite you.

Or maybe not but who knows!
