Haven’t handled the SkyD, but a White Dial DaytonaC is my daily wear for a few years...for me, it is a perfect watch.

I think that’s a great idea actually.

I’m not sure if it will cause unnecessary wear on the movement, but Rolex is a watch of quality, I think it can take it!

The OP asked about a SS BLUE Skydweller........not all variations of. He obviously asked that because it is the most difficult Skydweller to obtain at retail. He wasn't asking how a Skydweller wears or looks.........he was merely asking as to the prestige involved in acquiring one vs the Daytona C, the other very difficult to find Rolex SS model. I never understand how these threads get sidetracked by posters talking about their own watches, which have nothing to do with the topic at hand and serves no purpose in answering the inquiry.

What if he thought that blue looks better on a classic-style Rolex than white or black?

I don't want a Sky-Dweller for myself but I see the appeal of that blue sunburst dial juxtaposed on stainless steel. Maybe there's substance underneath the hype?

OP, in my humble opinion, opt for the blue Sky-Dweller. The newer Daytonas just don't compete with their older 4-digit models.

How big are your wrists? I have 8.75 inch wrists and the Daytona feels a bit small. The SkyD is great for my wrists.

Jean Claude Biver always has his chrono running too. If he deems it appropriate and safe for the movement I don't think we should question it.

2 completely different watches as far as how they wear.
My recommendation is to try them on and decide vs basing the decision on values. They are both nice watches.

In reality this is not gonna happens as most of the AD never have them both In stock for us to try on . That would be cool if you can try them before put your name on the waiting list .

SkyD blue if you can get it at retail, it seems harder than the white daytona.

If you are lucky enough for an AD to offer you both at retail price, why choose? Buy both!

IMO if I had to choose, if I had around a 7.5" wrist size I would go with the Sky. The Daytona C for wrist size medium to small.

if you buy :
For looks: this is personal
For functionality; SkyD blue is more complicated, chronograph is hardly used daily
For price: SkyD is more expensive
For collectible: both are equal collectibility
For size: skyD is bigger
For profit; Daytona easier to sell
For popularity: Daytona is more popular
For possiblity to buy: SkyD blue, is harder to get, ? less demand and less supply

On my wrist (7.75) the Daytona is the best fitting Rolex.

Can not answer your questions. But out of of the two I would go for a Daytona C black dial.

Which is considered more prestigious and hold its value in the long run?
The prestige of owning either reference is great but the difference is the Daytona name was applied in '63. It's been a constant for 57 years and wasn't always as popular as today, The Daytona is also a small watch just under 39mm and works well for the smaller wrist or those who want to tone it down a bit, unless you get the full gold versions. The Skydweller was first introduced 2012, but in only in precious metal. The steel and white gold version were just introduced in 2017 and created a lot of interest. I look at one being old school and the other being new school. If you are interested in buying, then buy the watch that fits your wrist the best. If you are being to preserve value, I think both will maintain value. If buying for prestige, they are both Rolexes and both are highly sought after.
