Thanks my friend.

The attention to detail is certainly incredible. The stitching, the design, is just incredible in real life. I’ve never worn a horse hide jacket and was a bit nervous having heard how difficult they can be to break in. That all disappeared once I slipped into this one. After only wearing it for one day it’s already starting to break in nicely, and molding to my body. The Shinki HH he uses is a proprietary blend that the tannery in Japan makes specifically for Himel Bros. It’s very hard to describe but it’s simply amazing.

Just in time for fall indeed

Great looking jacket and a nice change up in topics. I have some nice leather coats that I look forward to wearing when the weather gets cool. If I was somewhere that the weather dictated heavier clothing for more than the few months we get it here, I could really see getting into it a bit more. Enjoy.

We have very similar styles.

I’d actually go with the exact one you have. I might actually order one. Love it. And imo, quality is worth it. Always.

Wear it in good health.

Looking good!!

My favorite leather jacket (outside of my flight jacket) is this one that I got in Florence during our travels.

Wife and I bought each other jackets from the leather market there...that was a decade ago and it is still in tiptop shape. Softest leather I've come across!

Looking good JP

My wife just bought her jacket in Firenze on our last trip as well

I decided to hold out for this though. For me, it’s my grail jacket

A great leather jacket is a wonderful thing, especially if you ride motorcycles.

I do prefer a slightly longer cut as leaning over the handlebars can cause the back to ride up.

Thanks brother
I don't post from my phone and since I don't currently use an image hosting service it makes it a bit difficult. But anyway the top tier shoemakers do make some really nice leather shoes and boots. If interested sometime take a look at John Lobb, Edward Green, and Gaziano and Girling. Its not only nice dress shoes but some real nice boots and MTO can always be ordered where you can get them exactly the way you want them.

It does look like you are more a Viberg type person however and they make some really nice boots although the orthotics would more than likely would be an issue.

There really is nothing better than a real nice leather chair either and I have one fairly nice one for both my home office and living room as well.

Nice!!!

When all around me are buying that cheap plastic crap it's Leather, nice looking wood, and quality materials which are the things that I enjoy, interested in, and buy.

Thanks Steve. Interesting comment on the jacket length ... I guess it depends on what kind of bike you ride. Horsehide will ride up around your ears if the jacket is much longer That’s why most bike jackets are about 25” at the back.

I had an inch So this ones 26” but I don’t ride

That looks great!

I had Schott make me a horse hide 10-15 years ago now. (they sourced their hide from Italy at the time; not sure about today) That was a significant investment as well, but it still looks great. New, the thing would stand up on its own if you just set it on the floor... seemed like it would have stopped a propellant accelerated projectile cast of lead.

After about five years of steady wear (rain or sine) is STARTED to soften up. Year ten it finally looks like "mine" and even shows a touch of edge wear at the front zipper seams. It could probably be run over by a truck a dozen times and once cleaned, would look new. Horse hide is the traditional hide and for a "one" jacket, the right hide to use in my opinion.

I was riding when I got it, so my length is a bit longer and also the sleeves to cover my monkey arms.

I also have a Wested Leather "indy" jacket which I also had made from horse hide (the movie jacket was goatskin) because I wanted the jacket to actually wear; not own a "costume" piece. That said, Goat is my second choice and the flying tiger jackets were goat and extremely durable.

That’s awesome Jim, really great to hear about your Schott

I did a lot of research before buying this one and I agree with you that horsehide is a very special ownership experience.

Mine willl sort of stand up on its own now, but honestly the Shinki Dave uses is a bit thinner (I believe 1.2-1.3mm thick) so this one will hopefully break in sooner

Other than my motorcycle jacket the last time I bought one was in LA shortly after moving there in 86. It was a specific style with large lapels and buttah soft leather that I still have but haven't worn in 20 years. My wife won't let me get rid of it because I wore it when I proposed to her overlooking the ocean in Santa Monica at 10 PM on Feb 9 1991. There are still her tears drops on the lapels from the trauma of the experience.

If I was to buy another leather jacket it would be more Nehru collar than any other style.

As for leather chairs, I prefer our Ekornes to an Eames for comfort. But the Eames has a unique design element to it.

Thankfully living in California, warm jackets are not really a necessity, although flame retardant ones seem to be.

Looking good buddy.

This is my pride and joy. I bought in Amsterdam in 1999 and I never travel without it. Incredibly heavy but very comfortable. I simply love it.

Had this one custom made last year... black with blue accents. Reccomend Remy 100%!

Wife got similar black with brown accents too.

weird light in the last pic...backing is solid blue. You can pick all leather colors, interior fabrics/colors and stitching colors too!
