So if Rolex was literally true to final form, Triplock SS, same case as today, no cyclops seen along the plane of the flat crystal, thicker sapphire.

Not wrong but it’s not worth getting frustrated about. I really dislike Rollie but thankfully it’s not widely used. If it was I’d not try to convince anyone not to use it because there isn’t really a good reason why, other than it sounding naff.

I know nothing, but I’d be surprised if the new September 1st release were a Submariner (without Date) only.

Unless... it’s a first ever (at least I am aware of) Submariner (without Date) in precious metal.

I think 3 identically sized dots on crown indicate SS.

You mean, the forum where we talk about Smurfs and Pepsis, and various superheroes (and a Muppet)?

Call it what you want to call it. You just look a bit silly telling other people what to call it.

"Submariner" is, not surprisingly, most often used to refer to the entire line of watches. Referring to a "no date" or "sub nd" is a convenient way to refer to the specific model, which otherwise has no distinguishing feature. It doesn't imply that Rolex calls it that, any more than that Rolex ever officially sold a Kermit.

Blue, as in Deep Blue Sea, has always represented the ocean (diver), and may have nothing to do with color.

This was my thinking, too. But, I hope so much to be wrong. Rolex has got to be aware that using the word "blue" without offering a blue watch is only setting people up for disappointment.

I really like blue watches. A steel, sunray blue Sub would be my dream watch.

(Not that I'd ever be able to buy one, given the demand.)

You're right. There is a Sub, and there is a Sub Date.

If folks used their proper names, there would never be any confusion.

So if someone announces that he has a sub incoming, you're quite confident everyone will understand exactly which model he means? :)

Its a teaser so whilst it may well be a Submariner that we can see it doesn't mean that the watch shown is the only change.

All this may indicate is that the Submariner range has received a movement upgrade, nothing else, no size change, bezel change or dial change.

On the other hand it could show that the Submariner now has a blue dial, blue bezel, new movement, whilst the Sub Date just has the new movement as Rolex is going to upgrade the Sub Date in 2021 with new colour schemes and a case size increase.

Its all a bit of guesswork as we don't really know.

The Teaser has crown guards , So it isn't a Airking or Milgauss it surely must be the Sub or Yachty or Explorer

[QUOTE=JWD531;10855290]I saw one video on YT speculating they can see an Oysterflex bracelet in the video. Perhaps precious metal.

It can be an oyesterflex bracelet.

A genuine question to all the native English speaking members on this forum:

"Out of the Blue"

Do you interpret these words like:

a) Something with the colour blue is released?
b) Something totally unexpected (i.e. out of the blue) is released?
c) A model having a high WR is released (i.e. the blue as in rising from the abyss?)

Curious to hear what you think. Personally, I lean to litera b for the latest teaser, but then again my native language is not English.

If its a SS sub - blue w/no date...are they possibly getting ride of the existing black bezel / black dial combination?

Irrelevant question.

If someone knows what they have incoming, they should use the proper model designator/name so that there would not be any confusion.

Their confusion doesn't undermine my confidence.

3 dots on the crown, thick caseback, no cyclops... It's a (hopefully blue) SS Sub

d) How the AD responds: “Sorry, we are ‘out of the blue.’”

Out of the blue ocean comes a Submariner ,strong in heritage with slimmed down lugs, like predecessors ,different movement and dressed in traditional black dial and bezel.

An update to the ND Sub makes sense if only because it's the most basic watch available and hasn't been updated in a while. Makes sense that Rolex would want to prop up their "bottom end"

I noticed the three dots for trip lock and then had to do a lil Rolex crown recon and discovered the dot size nomenclature as well. The posted photo appears to be similar sized dots and so what I’m reading says either SS or Yellow Gold.
