Love my 16600. It is honestly one of the best Rolex has ever made. Such a classy and elegant piece, yet really a full on tool watch hidden below the veneer. I’m sure I’ll never take mine to even 25% of its capability, but the engineering and history behind it all is really something neat and inspiring as well.
Mine is set to go to one of my kids one day, but I’ll probably just replace it with another 16600. It’s a great piece.

Had an early 90s SeaDweller that was stolen and vowed to get another one at some point. A variety of different Rolex models later eventually landed at the SD43. At this point I feel my SeaDweller joureney has reached its destination. While I liked the original one I had as it was the first I always felt it wore a bit small and the SD43 just got the proportions right for what I wanted out of a watch. Though at the end of the day the SeaDweller just flat out rocks !!

Back in the day, I didn't buy one for a 100 € difference. I was offering 2.600 € and the seller was insisting on 2.700 €. Still kicking myself. What a great watch!

The 16600 is the best sapphire SD, period. The lines, proportions, weight, feel, chunkiness, cool-factor, etc. .... Just perfection.
I've tried several of the newer SDs, including the SD43, but nothing touches the 16600. It's the absolute sweet spot for a modern-ish dive watch. |

I have also owned quite a few since my first Sub in 79. I agree I think my Deep Blue DSSD is the greatest of all. The SD is quite special!

Greatest of all time! Fabulous reference! I love my 16600! And still a relative bargain to buy! Full set unpolished examples are getting hard to find!

Big fan of the Sea-Dweller line... 16660 was my first love and have since acquired the 16600 and 1665.

What I love most about my 16600 is actually the thickness. It's slightly thicker than your standard 5-digit Sub but this gives it a presence (not unlike a super-case 6-digit Sub) while still being super wearable for average sized wrists!

Curious if you still feel the same a year and a half later? I just picked up a 16600. My first SeaDweller. I've only had it one week and feel that it ranks up there as one of the best Rolex watches I have ever owned. ![]() |

![]() Fully agree with OP. Pulled the trigger on 11.11.2006 for my first Rolex piece and got sucked into this brand ever since… It still rocks after 15 years. ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I completely agree, have collected subs for many years , the 16600 is the perfect balance of everything to like in a sports rolex.

Love mine (E-serial circa 1990, Tritium). Had it over 10 years, and is now therefore the one I’ve owned the longest, and I’ve had a few different references in my time, too. The first one was in 1997 (16710).

Umm, surely you missed a 1 in your post.
You meant to say that the 116600 is the perfect Rolex. 40mm 3135 Movement Chromalight Dial Ceramic bezel (fully demarcated) ![]() ![]() ![]() I do like the 16600 but I think the 116600 is the next step better |

Good looking chunky monkey. Plenty of us can’t pull it off comfortably though.

I picked up a 16600 about 3 years ago. Great value considering what a Sub date was going for. I really like the more beefy proportions and the strength of it technically. I have to agree it’s one of my favorite in the collection as well. Consequently it gets a lot of rest time. Hard to beat.
